"My group needs to faceplant for the job to be interesting" means that the job generally isn't interesting. I learn on healer as it's easier but prefer to farm on DPS where I can always try and do a little better each time.I love healer job. I have a new astro and the older whm. Healer job start to be interestingly annoying when a tank absolutely refuse to use any mitigation on all mob/trash. They're just come to run as quickly as possible. Some of them don't use even their stance. I disagree with that sentence healer is boring. No, it isn't. Player make the job boring or annoying.
The OP's question is based on the false assumption that "Adventurer in Need" is anything more than a simple queueing mechanism. When I queue for an instance as a healer, or as a tank or DPS, it's because I want to play through that instance on a particular job, not because there is a bonus. When I queue as a WHM or SCH I generally don't spend a lot of time in the queue, which can be a bonus if I'm short of time, but it's generally because I'm leveling one of the healer jobs at the time.
Depending on the time of day, I've seen the "Adventurer" bonus being offered for DPS as well. Go figure.
There are a large number of healers out there, some of the more vocal ones appear on this forum. Some of those appear to be bored by their healer job. Understandable. I get bored of DPS jobs at times and switch to tank or healer, just to experience something different.

Yeah, this is the issue with healers. They are only ever fun when things go really wrong. Adding more complexity to their DPS is the only solution I can see, since evidently the idea is to have plenty of tools available even when there's a ton of additional healing required. And you just can't get away from the fact 80% of healer time is DPSing anyway at this point in the game development. Just let us have anything to do for downtime. And when the team does faceplant no one will care even if we drop our DPS entirely for the crisis management, just like it is now.
I would rather just send more healing required for extreme+ content and maybe a little more complex DPS rotation. A big DPS rotation would mean huge button bloat.Yeah, this is the issue with healers. Just dropping by to sip a little tea.
Maybe it’s related to datacenter?
Most of the time, tank is still the most prominent role for “in need” bonus in my DC.
In part finder, healer slot even fills faster than dps. It’s part of the reason that I mostly play with my static. It's been very difficult for me to find an open slot for healers in high end contents.
I'd say I envy you guys. I really want to earn in need bonus and have more opportunities to raid with randoms as a healer.

I think a lot of it is anxiety. People come to these forums or other sites and get the constant barrage of "Healers are just Green DPS!" even though the devs have said other wise multiple times. Lots of people who play healers want to heal, and often like healing because it's less frantic than DPS or Tanking. But you have people whining Healing is boring unless they are frantically spamming abilities like a chimp on crack.
It scares off some of the people who would otherwise try healing out.

If yoshi p was somehow forced to play healer only guess what role would have a new dynamic and interesting dps kit interwoven w their healing?

This ain’t true. Healing is fun and dynamic. The problem is that this is a scripted game and when you know the fight the time you spend healing drops because no one needs it.I think a lot of it is anxiety. So people rightly done want to just stand there and they also don’t want to button mashing one single button and an ccaaional dot. How anyone healing can be against a solid dps aspect to the job baffles me. Having interesting and dynamic dps on a healer does not mean healing has to suffer. You could even not press me dps button if you don’t want to but for those of us who do want up why not support that? How does it harm you to do that? Just curious.
Because you are in most cases playing as a DPS with healing abilities. DPS that have only two damage dealing buttons.
Only content where you have to focus more on healing abilities is content that most casuall players never touch.
To make healers more fun would meant to rework a lot of things. I dont simply believe that they will ever make it so. They dont have or dont want to give enough resources for that.
In darkness, in cold, in the midst of winter where nothing walks the world but death and fear let the brave rejoice: I call the light.
Out of darkness, light. Ouf of silence, song. Ouf of the sun´s death, the birth of each year. Out of cold, fire. Out of death, life. Out of fear, courage to see the day. (Elizabeth Moon - The Deed of Paksenarrion)
