Pretty sure they are not forcing your internet offline. That's not possible, it's just kicking your character off the server because you cannot have two active computers running on the same account.





If they log into the phishing site, they give the hackers their IP, and they get DDOS'd, which does knock their internet offline. Its a pretty common thing that they do around here, tbh.
people REALLY need to stop buying gil, because thats what promotes this.

That's what the OP said happened, yes. The question is whether they're telling us everything, because the key step between "I received a tell" and "they kicked me offline" is generally following the link and entering your password.
But then that isn't "more aggressive", that's just business as usual.
So one way or another, OP's story doesn't add up.
People who click these links can't be helped. You can't fix stupid. Maybe just maybe, it's too good to be true because it is.
