Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

It's a bit difficult to see, but it would be so weird if they left any trace of it on the sides and only removed it on top so that makes sense.



All jokes aside, they did say "let's show you a few" implying there's more and these are just examples, so hopefully there's a good amount and variety of them at launch.

But I'm not getting my hopes up too high just yet.

On another note, IMO it does suck that female viera don't get the same treatment, then again male viera didn't even exist for the last 2 years and we didn't even know if they'd ever exist. Though, were it the other way around I'd certainly be a bit salty about the hair situation.

I'm curious, if YoshiP announced that Viera was going to be released for ShadowBringers, but they needed an expansion's worth of time to revamp the hairstyle system for them - would people have waited the extra 2 years and not had any new race in Shadowbringers for a complete race (hair, but perhaps no hats yet) in Endwalker ?

For me, a 4 year wait for a complete race is worth it.

I wouldve been fine waiting. I love my viera but it is a bit meh in the long run when content is being released with hairstyles as an incentive to run it and then you cant use them. And before anyone says to just fantasia, I have.....multiple times. But I love my character.

Hrothgar having new hairstyles by 6.1 is nice to hear, although I wonder if it will still be tied to the face? I'd rather not use a Fantasia to change hairstyles as a Hrothgar.

They already said that it will be multiple hairstyles for each face, but I don't know if that's just the existing hairstyles or more of the normal ones. Either way they'll add more in upcoming patches.

I hope the six shown are not the only ones for Viera, I'm assuming the rest will become available with time as well now that they said Male Viera were built to include most/all hairstyles. That means female hrothgar will be built in the same way thankfully. Curious to see what they do in 6.1 with male Hrothgar hairstyles tied to faces.

I'm going in expecting only the ones they showed, and if there's more I'll be pleasantly surprised.

New hairstyles for Viera will be added in Patch 6.0.

We’d previously announced we’d be unable to add more hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar as they are designed in a special way compared to other races. However, we saw an extreme number of requests from across the globe, so the development team set out to rework the system and finally made it possible to add more hairstyles after almost two years.

Hrothgar are even more complicated than Viera and will require more time, so their hairstyles will be added in Patch 6.1.

We showed off the new hairstyles for Viera, which you can view in the video.

No specifics on if it's more than the 6 hairstyles they showed, by the way it's written it sounds like it's not? But we'll find out in 2 weeks, or what the changes to Hrothgar will be beyond adding more hair.

IIRC I got the impression from the media Tour interviews that it was a solution to the payment thing.
Wait, rewatched the vid I'm referring to.
He doesn't out right say what exactly it means, but "right now you have 1 face and maybe 1 type of hairstyle. Looking into examining ways to have 1 face and maybe several types of hairstyles for that 1 face" sounds like "No longer having to pay like some pay piggy" to me, unless they're gonna make Hrothgar have several more "heads" just to change hair like they already have.

Listening, to that video, it sounds exactly like that to me as well. I really want to know the technical limitation that they imposed on Hrothgar that is making it difficult for them to expand their customization without having to outright shell out real money.
