Just because they only showed six hairstyles doesn't mean they're only making six. They don't show us every iteration of every gearset either.

It does, I just thought if they added this one they'd remove the hairband entirely.

It appears to only be gone on top where the ears are but magically still there on the sides, but it could just be the image/angle.

Having looked at the picture now, it seems to me that the headband is removed but the shadow of the headband is still there. You can see hair texture inside the outline of it.

Yeah, I know. Ive lost trust in that they will actually do it. We will probably get 10 more umbrellas before we get 10 more hairstyles. It is ok, it is only an incentive to run content anyway, amirite?

It's a bit difficult to see, but it would be so weird if they left any trace of it on the sides and only removed it on top so that makes sense.

All jokes aside, they did say "let's show you a few" implying there's more and these are just examples, so hopefully there's a good amount and variety of them at launch.

But I'm not getting my hopes up too high just yet.

Idk, I’ve just learned to take them at face value. I’m not spending another expansion hopeful they’ll add more in coming patches, only to be disappointed again. The last time we collectively went “oh it’s okay surely this isn’t all, it’s just what they had ready at the time” we didn’t see anything at all for years.

While he did say “here is a few” it was definitely stressed that they are still having issues with the models. I was cautiously optimistic before, but idk now. I am happy we got a couple I like, like 2B. I don’t mind headband clipping at all.

Remember the only reason you're playing Viera is because SE heard it's player base and responded. Viera might not have existed in FFXIV if it were otherwise. They took into consideration the feedback and desire for the race and the players love for Fran. I'm sure the two races were an after thought and pushed through for us.

I'm not sure if it looked like I was complaining or something? My choice of words for "learned" was more of "learned from the rocky development of both races which led to a rough release with all the limitations we still have", not... "learned from the player blowback"? Like Zanarkand-Ronso said (and I agree), it's likely because they had more development time and were focusing on ONE playable model (Male Viera) instead of rushing to make two somewhat playable models.

On another note, IMO it does suck that female viera don't get the same treatment, then again male viera didn't even exist for the last 2 years and we didn't even know if they'd ever exist. Though, were it the other way around I'd certainly be a bit salty about the hair situation.

I'm curious, if YoshiP announced that Viera was going to be released for ShadowBringers, but they needed an expansion's worth of time to revamp the hairstyle system for them - would people have waited the extra 2 years and not had any new race in Shadowbringers for a complete race (hair, but perhaps no hats yet) in Endwalker ?

For me, a 4 year wait for a complete race is worth it.

Considering how many hairstyles that other races start with and all that have been added, then yes. Six is very little. It has been two years where they havent added a single one. They couldve added once a month and we still wouldnt have as many hairstyles as the other races.
