Just because they used PTO to play a videogame and things didnt go as planned. Like they will never have a chance to play a game again.

Firstly, thank you for the kind words. I do think a lot of people are in the same boat so these silly little events are a little more important than would be normally.

I haven't seen these declarations that people are pulling plugs in this thread (but the internet is large, and alive, and so very stupid). If there are and I missed, or just the more heated responses, I genuinely just chalk it up to the fact the announcement happened on the LL.

You organize your time off. You make plans and maybe have your game-binging meals all planned out. You then settle down to the LL to hear all the things you can look forward to, and it opens up with "We are sorry to announce a delay." Definitely winded me when I heard it! The LL isn't even over yet so I just think people are feeling a bit heated. They'll get their head screwed back on correctly soon.

However, there are those that see the release date like a "best before".
So to them it might be more like aging milk.

I can't say the same about my area....however it was REALLY bad when all this started @_@
So I more then understand the struggle, it was difficult getting Food because of the lockdowns, and I went back into debt because of the Lockdowns.
I wouldnt wish this to repeat ever again for ANYBODY. Cause I know I got lucky compared to alot of other people.

No doubt people get heated, my big ol post there was a heated irrational response to others. Like any other time I get myself locked into a senseless argument, or people get upset about something, over time we all cool down and move foreword. Its no biggie. I understand the disappointments, I remain Optimistic that it will be worth the wait and hope we share see a Great Launch.

I am somewhat annoyed by the delay, but them asking for 2 more weeks to iron out kinks with the expansion isn't exactly a devastating delay...

My work has it in place that you have to request off no later than 14 days prior to the time you want to take. Literally nothing about cancelling time off and such.

Technically since the date is pushed by two weeks, I can still rescind my time off and put in for the 3rd to 17th... but then what if there's another delay lol...

I was really looking forward to the late November release, because it was before my family hobbles together under one roof and eventually gets tired of one another/makes me unable to even sleep in my own house.

It'll always be there, but I wanted to be ahead of any spoilers, because so many folks can't contain themselves.

Also, for all the folks deriding the folks who are upset that their time off may not align with the expansion, saying things like, "It's a first world problem. It's just a video game lol." I've spent my whole life getting ridicule like that from the same folks who get upset when inclement weather delays a sports function(same babies who get piss faced drunk and whine all night after). This is a big event for something we truly enjoy. Wanting time off for it is understandable, and time off is the most valuable thing we have.

I am genuinely sorry for people who have taken time off and are feeling disappointed, going through that emotional curve is rough. Taking planned leave out of whole year it is such a small window of time regardless of how people choose to spend it. This always comes with a risk be it a game release or going abroad and storms causing flight delays. I had a feeling something was going to happen with so much expectation and hype I was expecting a push into the new year especially with Square no doubt wanting to raise the bar on value, outcomes and output. I hope for people that booked leave that they can change it or organise some alternate way to play with friends or family in something they love.

The mythical man-month by Fred Brooks around software engineering/projects is still true today regardless of project delivery using Agility such as Kanban, XP, Scrum etc at scale.

My two pennies worth people react differently and have a wide spectrum of complex emotions some are deeply upset, some can simply shrug it off but all said and done I hope where ever we sit on opinion that people just acknowledge views about this delay and continue to be kind to each other.

I get to keep energy drain restoring MP for another two weeks. I was hoping to get scholar peloton at 80 so i could sprint and expedient around haha :-)

To anyone that feel bad over this 2 week delay remember that:

Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed 3 times, released as a buggy glithy mess and still has issues almost a year after release.

Imagine comparing ANY western developer company (especially cdpr) with SE (or any other of the top japanese ones).

Both of those points, so very much. Especially spoilers. You have to beat people to content now or someone is going to blab about it.

To the second, I also have spent over 30 years getting that same ridicule. I'm doing something that challenges and puzzles me with gaming but it's not "adult" enough for those who do nothing but get themselves blackout drunk or rot their brain with reality TV. Give me a break. And yes, heaven forbid their sport of choice gets rained out.
