I’m completely clueless on these things, but I’m curious why it would be so different than say, a piece of gear that needs to fit on every model. If hats, or glasses, or gloves that show a lot of skin can do this np, why is a beard so difficult? I’ve been wondering about this a few times. But yes, full support for more beard options if it’s in any way possible

Gloves replace the character's hand model, so they're a different thing to adding headgear to a character. And headgear itself doesn't have to move when the character's mouth moves – it just has a fixed shape with maybe some free-hanging tassels on it. Headgear doesn't vary from face to face or change with the character's jawline; they just make it so it will fit over the largest possible variation and let it float on smaller ones.

So quite possibly a beard added as a hairstyle or headpiece would likewise be an inert object that can't conform to the individual character's face or animate when they talk.
