Anyone suggesting that this is people upset about not being able to be ‘rude’ are the same, disingenuous people we have concern about. When you can twist and turn statements to fit a narrative you yourself are concocting to turn others into villains, you legitimize the concerns people have.
You are ignoring the message in it’s true form to make others seem as though they are beneath being good people with good intentions. Though it may not be the sugar coated wording to protect the fragile, the message isn’t ill intended, nor aggressive.

True, it's not acceptable from either side. At least if you DO think you should be able to insult other players (and some people do think it's okay, that's their opinion), take that position and stick to it instead of saying you support one thing but doing the other.

I have literally been told I should commit suicide if I don't know mechanics (it was my first time in the latest NieR raid and no, I didn't watch a video, which I guess is taboo). So I get where SE is coming from. It's this type of behavior they are trying to suppress, but at the same time, enforcing a rule to make people think about how they word things and the tone they use. It's not a bad idea and if it keeps comments like the one I received from happening again, then I'm all for it.

Exactly. "Tank, can you please turn on your stance?" is fine. "LMAO, Tank, do you even know what a stance is? How did you get to level 70 without knowing how to play your own class? Do us all a favor and stick to trusts!" is not.

Heck, just saying "tank stance" should be fine, as it can be viewed as either a reminder or a request.

You can still give advice. I do not know why people are twisting themselves in pretzels to claim they cannot. It even says in the ToS you can give advice, just without the extra "morons" and "stop doing that!" mixed in.

"Hey DPS, for this boss you have to take the chains to the boss. That way he doesn't get a damage buff." vs "What are you doing? You're suppose to take the chain to the boss. Stop picking it up if you don't know what to do."
"Hey Tank, you have gear that is pretty low. You should buy some gear that way you take less damage." vs "Tank? Why the fxxk do you have lvl50 gear on?"

In any case, the rules are the same as they have been for 4 years (I remember when people got super mad about those rules and nothing happened) and the GMs are not robots. They aren't going to instantly ban everyone who has been reported by someone. They are humans that speak English and know which words are not used as demand words (should). If you are reported by 50 people and all you said was "Stack during this mechanic", you are NOT getting banned. Goodness gracious.

This is what you are doing wrong, this is how you fix it / mitigate it now, this is how you don't do it in the future.

We simply live in a society that is so emotionally fragile that directness is seen as a personal attack. There are ways to massage the message a bit, but it shouldn't be required for everyone.

The adage of a sh!t sandwich has existed for a long time in management styles. Say something nice, say what's really wrong, sugar coat the end.

There's also the style of Praise in Public, Punish in Private. But that can't really apply when you're trying to accomplish a goal in real time that needs addressed ASAP, hence, where directness needs to take precedence.

But people nowadays don't like being told they're wrong and see toxicity everywhere.

See what's happening in this thread. Being concerned with the new rules is mixed with "refusing to be kind and polite".
People genuinely think we like to be bad toward others for the sake of being bad and miss the point.

I think the only reason why people are defending these changes is because it's FF.

If it was the other company doing these changes the FF players that are currently defending the 10/27/2021 changes to the ToS on the "Updates to the Prohibited Activities in FINAL FANTASY XIV and Account Penalty Policy" topic would be memeing about the other company going overboard with uneccesary changes in an attempt to look good after the controversies.
