See, that would make sense if mentor roulette didn't have the potential to drop you into almost any duty in the game, so you legitimately don't know if you're signing up for five minutes or an hour and an half.
And to be clear, I like this about mentor roulette, it's a selling point and I am 100% not complaining about this being how it works. However, it's reasonable to queue for this roulette with the assumption that you'll be getting a dungeon, meaning ~15-30min, given that the vast majority of possibilities are dungeons. And I don't agree with people who get, say, an EX and immediately drop because they can't be bothered to try to teach, but sometimes you queue knowing you have 40 minutes before you have to be somewhere else and oops, you got Praetorium and honestly at that point it's better to politely bow out, it's not like they can't clear it down one person.

It's also incredibly unfair to say 'if you might be interrupted while playing, you shouldn't play at all,' considering that you're basically telling anyone who is a parent, and especially women, since the onus of childcare statistically falls more heavily on them even if all other factors are equal, to just not bother playing at all.

As someone who has been getting disconnects lately, this is pretty concerning. Yesterday I got none and was able to finish getting the BLU spells I needed. Should I have not played all day because there was a chance I would disconnect and not be able to login for the rest of the day? How do you define "frequent disconnects"?

I have also been to extreme farming parties and unreal parties in the past couple of weeks, and iirc, I did disconnect from 2 parties. Does Square Enix think I shouldn't have played with other players to get those mounts and other loot items? That's an odd stance to take considering this is an MMO. What solo content even is there? PotD and HoH? Well guess what, you can't disconnect in those either!

The keyword for that clause is "Intentionally" - Just don't do it intentionally and you have nothing to be concerned about. I'd find it pretty damn convenient if you were to 'disconnect' for every single cutscene in Praetorium, for example. Which I would argue this is largely where the clause comes into effect, in addition to people just outright disconnecting when they get Aurum Value with sprouts, or a duty that they do not like.

Their first key point was in fact:
"Since the game relies on internet connectivity, it is inevitable that there will be network disconnections or real-life circumstances which prevent you from playing the game. As such, simply disconnecting or remaining inactive in the game will not result in a penalty."

There is no chance that SQEX can differentiate whether your internet provider had cut your connection off or you had rebooted your internet router to force a disconnect. So they can not tell whether it was intentionally or not.

Better be mindful when you're experiencing network instability then and communicate it adequately with the group then. If I'm to be frank in the matter I find it highly unlikely that people are going to report you for such a thing unless you've been outright disruptive or disrespectful in the first place. Even if they do, they aren't exactly going to sanction you unless it's repeat occurrences, as they so highlighted - "are confirmed to be occurring repeatedly:"

Like I said, it would need to be pretty damn convenient for unintentional disconnects to happen repeatedly under:
    - right after entering a duty
    - when progress is not going well in a duty
    - when the team is about to be defeated in PvP
