This could also be put to a problem of people rushing all content ingame to the point you don't have time to talk.. Wall to wall pulling prevents talking as a healer an tank so you can keep yourself or others alive and if a dps is talking they ain't dealing damage.

Next there is the fact that a lot of players are on playstation, and don't possess a way to efficiently talk. A "o/" can be saved to recent or commonly used keys on ps4/5 and typing much else can take a lot of time to do with the built-in keyboard.

Lastly I prefer the o7 letting people know I'm ready to go :3

I personally have a "meowdy ny'all" and "thanks for the run, ny'all!" macro for this exact reason. There's not much time to talk so a macro saves precious time and i've noticed using it as a DPS i get a helluvalot of comms that way ahah. Granted, o/ and o7 look cuter ahah.

I'm concerned that there are some people who just need to AFK briefly for real life things like answering the door, a phone call or an accident (like spilling a drink) will be punished while people who often AFK in content consistently will be generally accepted as they have been for a long time.

Also, would this also count towards people who do less than the bare minimum in content. For example: Healers who mostly stand still and not participate until a heal is required rather than just DPSing.

There's still kick options - just kick if everyone else is in agreement that there is a difference in playstyle.

Sure but DR, for example, you cannot kick someone. I often see people leave a party at the start, die early in the right, release and then AFK.

Some of us dont approve of the strict stances prior to these "clarifications." The community is not as social, or as good, as people hype it up to be.

You know what most people do? They don't socialize or communicate at all. If they do, the extent of that socialization is "/o or o/."

That is a direct result of people knowing they have to walk on eggshells due to the TOS.

Hard to hype up your community as so good when people barely socialize due to fear of offending someone.

If people's first reaction about newly provided clarifications is "now I can't say anything in chat without being banned" - it's honestly not the ToS being a problem then, given that what these examples say is pretty much "don't be a toxic anti-social element". You won't be patted on the head if you speak like in those examples IRL either.

SE being pretty strict about rude behaviour is specfically one of the reasons why this community is regarded as one of the better ones - because people know they can be punished if they act like jerks. Wherever we like it or not, some people are only acting decently under the fear of being ostracized or punished. Is it a good or bad thing? Who knows, it's a complex topic. In an ideal world people would act decently just because they're decent human beings. We aren't in an ideal world, though, so it falls into the company's hands to control how their community is allowed to behave. And SE was never really loose on this even before adding nuinsance behaviour section into ToS.

That said, people dropping just "o/" during dungeon runs in chat has nothing to do with ToS. Chat was never particularly active in FF14 outside of shout in big cities mainly because people go into dungeons to clear them as fast as possible and leave, not to have chit-chat (unless it's Praetoium after making its cutscenes unskippable). If you want to socialize - you usually would do so in a most populated city, FC or linkshells even back in 2013/2014.

I've had a BLM say they're going to report me as I suggested they not sure Fire III to spam but that it's like a stance switch. I couldn't have worded it in a nicer way but they lost it at me.

Just last week a friend asked a tank to move the enemies back into their doton for the tank to lose it and intentionally move it out of every doton, give us a lecture on how they play ninja in savage raids and know it better than them and that they should only doton when the tank says so. I say "maybe don't give a lecture on how to play ninja when you don't even use Arm's Length or line of sight enemies to pull the ranged into a pack" and they then stood still and said they were reporting me.

It is a welcome clarification/change, never encounter issue when point out what mechanic we need to aware of as I never point finger. Have been threaten for being reported by some troll but I believe each reports are being review and handle by real person, clean as a whistle, nothing to worry

That's... altogether a different issue. I think we need better kick options, that's for sure! I've been held hostage by someone who was AFK and when we mentioned kicking them they opened another loot chest to extend the timer by 5 minutes.

These rules were always in place - so if you didn't experience any meetings with GMs before you won't now.
