What server were you on? I transferred to Wyrmrest Accord the day it opened and stayed there.

This is something that needs to be said again and again and again. It's ***good and important*** to treasure the good times one has in games; regardless of what it is. For me, it was the group of people I was playing with during a certain era of the game. I will always love and treasure those times and love the game I played then. WoW was my first MMO and I started playing it with people from a guild I'd been in since the late 90s, so we had a pre-built and awesome community from the get-go. Those were absolutely magical times for me. Times changed, I changed, and so did the game so I stopped playing.

I had a similar experience with ARR through most of HW. Even though I no longer experienced the magic of being new to MMOs, ARR hit that sweet spot for me and I found myself in an awesome guild; I was sold! Then certain changes to crafting/gathering happened in HW which caused me to not enjoy late-game play so I stopped. I still treasure the ARR and HW times to this day and wish I could go back to recapture the totality of those days; game design, a beautiful new world to explore, amazing guild mates, and all of that.

I quit MMOs for a while, went back to WoW for BfA and Classic, and had some enjoyable moments, but nothing like those I had in Vanilla and XIV.

In the end, to my eyes, Blizzard lost the love of design and joy of gaming while the SE team still clearly have it. That shows in every little thing they do and makes all the difference in the world to me.

I played on Moon Guard and Wyrmrest, doing whatever RP struck my fancy that day. And I fully agree: I could go on about the negatives for ages but I'd rather just focus on the good times I had. Did make Trial characters just to check out WoW after I left but...Not too much I can do on there.

I haven't fully switched yet - I still enjoy playing WoW. I'm also enjoying FF XIV, but for similar and different reasons.

WoW has some great storylines - fewer now than they used to, but still, they're out there. And it's not afraid to throw some slapstick in the middle of a serious quest line. FF seems to have concentrated silliness, and right now what I'm looking forward to most is the next installment of Hildebert Manderville. (I'm only in what I think is the last part of HW right now).

But what WoW really has is seamlessness. FF has load screens everywhere, while WoW has very few of them. It feels much smoother to play WoW than FF.

Also, I'm kind of an altaholic. I enjoy having multiple characters to do multiple things. In WoW you're kind of forced into it, if you want to play different classes, but here, while I can change my looks via the aesthetistician, my name best suits a male Hyur, rather than a Female Mi'quote, who I would want to have a different name with. And not being able to send gil or mats from one character on the same server to another is, frankly, very off-putting.

So, yeah, why I play FF and why I play WoW.
