Yeah high volume SSDs are kind of nutty. My 1tb 970 Evo cost me like 130$ on sale.

Funny because I kind of have the reverse problem and never managed to troubleshoot / understand why (I'm not proficient in IT related things). I play on a "gaming" laptop with a SSD, but FFXIV has considerably slower loading times if it is on my SSD (while teleporting, I have 4-5 seconds loading normally, 13 seconds on my SSD). I haven't tried to run the Benchmark on my SSD though but perhaps comparing both would help indentifying the issue...
Does this problem ring a bell to anyone here?
Yeah, those volumes is coming down, but probably going to be years until we see the high volumes at decent levels, question is if we ever need that as well. I don't notice any major lag accessing movies or other larges files on my 4TB drives.

Laptop is cramped with parts. Hardware runs hotter due to low airflow and heat will spread. SSD will throttle itself faster due to the heat.Funny because I kind of have the reverse problem and never managed to troubleshoot / understand why (I'm not proficient in IT related things). Also, not all SSDs are equal. Especially DRAMless. DRAMless SSDs could give you bad experience too.

I have two 512G SSD's, C: and D: Since I had a 1TB HDD left over, I installed that for storing non-interactive stuff, like software downloads, music, pictures, etc. If it just sits and takes up lots of space most of the time, it goes on the HDD.
Plus, keeping this bulk storage off the SSD's extends their lives by leaving more free space for wear leveling.
