Feminine is debatable, but WHM is definitely the "cutesy" one between the 3 [soon to be 4] healers, which is funny considering the others literally work with fairies and glittery stars - traditionally girly stuff. I hated it at first, since I play races that can't be cutesy even if I tried, but you kinda get used to it

From what Larryzaur's video shows, the male variant is exactly the same, but with the shoulders and boob window covered. I actually like the torso area, I'm all for turtle necks and hoods, and the ornate waist "armor" but not a fan of the short sleeves and hoping the whole arm is the 'glove' item so I can get rid of it, and I actually liked the frills until I saw it's only on the sides ...ok? now they just feel like redundant friller [eh? eh? I'll show myself out]

it may actually look better ingame, but as it is now, it's as if a nun wanted to look like a quinceañera.

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

This got me thinking, do people think some jobs (perhaps WHM and DNC) lean more towards certain genders as far as animations/AF gear/etc.? Not wanting to start any arguments about genders or who can wear what, etc. This is merely wondering out of curiosity from a game aesthetics standpoint ^^ I would actually tend to agree with my friend, in that I find WHM to be slightly leaning towards a traditionally feminine aesthetic.
it has likely already been said, but perhaps your friend has either identity or confidence issues.

the person makes the person... the clothing is just more personal taste. they have heard of glamour crystals right?

as for animations.... never thought about it or noticed it, they are a job thing, never once noticed in any job "oh, I cant play this, it looks too male when doing it...."

I think some races fair better for masculine vs feminine. Mi’qote males look alright in caster and healer gear. Elezen as well. Au’ra males look awkward in my opinion.

Less for healers, but oh well.
All those sets you just listed have identical caster and healer models.

Some Jobs are not feminine enough. I need my fending gear to have spikes and large gaps to show off some midriff. Reaper AF is just the edda loli outfit now. Casting gear should look something Miley Cyrus wore to the VMAs they couldn't show on air. We should just remove men from the game.

If I were to think on what kind of sets I'd like to see more of it'd be... 1) more caster armours, similar to this, this or this 2) more of the edgier robe sets like this and 3) some sets like this showcasing some flesh, and is suited to the male form. Coats and conventional robes are fine but we have loads already, and I think more variety in the robe style will also help some of the bulkier guys look less goofy in caster sets. I was pretty pleased with how the Law's Order set looked on male dragons. And more like the Diabolic healer's set, please.

That's nice for you, I guess? With the exception on warrior I'm having a hard time thinking of a job that is overtly masculine anyway.

I like how OP's friend states something pretty obvious, that WHM is particularly feminine, and then some people have to try to pathologize the guy for thinking that. WHM went from a nature-based conjurer doing elemental magic to now an almost purely light-based mage. bstance and vpose are yanked directly from Yuna, their spell effects are now based around glowing flowers, their sound effects are tinker bells, and their AFs tend to be frilly gowns. The guy must have issues though :v)

How does making a statement how healer outfits are feminine mean someone has identity or confidence issues? Every single healer artwork has a female mascot. This expansion alone we’ve had constant feminine healer gear across the board. Also the person makes the person? What? A large draw of this game is its outfits, so much so “glamour is the true endgame” is essentially a factual statement. Outfits should be designed properly for both males and females, not skewed one way or the other. I’m sick and tired of seeing blatant favoritism when it comes to female stuff. Prime example being the 2b gear in nier. We got a 2b purely feminine coffer and no male equivalent.

It's pretty par the course in these threads, unfortunately.

Not so much a complaint about gear aesthetics but,

I desperately wish I could alter the character animation for Assize to Tetragrammaton's arms raised, or Prescence of Mind's cane held in both hands and raised in the air instead of Assize's arm twirl cane hyperspin dance.
