And when there's almost nothing to heal, what do we do then? DPS. And when that becomes a majority of the battles, can you see how repetition becomes a problem?

Someone mentioned adding dps to healers as being complex and overwhelming to new players so I have to ask, what kind of dps are you thinking of adding? I am thinking may 2 or 3 more buttons that might form some kind of chain combo or interact with each other in some way. Are you really suggest taking out half the healing kit to accommodate a 10 or 12 button DPS rotation on a healer?

Not everyone against more DPS options across these forums is doing this, but I want to also point out that asking for a few additional, optional DPS buttons is not the same as asking for a frequent twelve-button or so DPS rotation; I don't know why some people keep disingenuously jumping to extreme strawman arguments when many people are often asking for slightly more than two buttons to regularly press. It feels like it's misrepresenting the average healer view under this forum, and it's starting to get frustrating.

To squash this, it's not a mentality. It's a choice. While sure, I'm not against Healers only healing, you have to realize the thought process behind that and the experience people get. While it varies from person to person and their perception, there eventually comes a time when they beg the question: "What happens if I try to hit this button instead of heal?" Just food for thought.

If people are already at or really close to max health, then why wouldn't I want to DPS during that downtime? To be clear, if the game required me to heal more regularly, then I would, but that's not how it's currently implemented, so it's ideal to DPS during large periods of downtime unless that gets fixed for all the game's existing content, not just upcoming Endwalker instances either.

I'm not sure what you mean by me creating problems; I'm talking about how the game currently is. If everyone is already at full health, what do you propose I do during that time? Just stand around doing nothing? Healers want more DPS options because the aforementioned downtime happens a lot for most of the game's instances, so people end up becoming bored pretty quickly due to limited variety.
