Cactbot knows exactly what a mechanic is going to do to you the instant the cast associated with it begins even if the visual tells don't show until several seconds later.

That extra time gives players a huge advantage during certain ultimate mechanics like Wormhole Formation or Future Simulation where the entire challenge is just trying to figure what's going to happen to you and positioning accordingly..

I don't mind if people are using it, but I have seen raid leaders making the addons mandatory for joining the group.

I remember back in Wow, this started small and then it became a mandatory or else you would not be invited.

I don't want this to happen to Final Fantasy XIV.

People also sometimes (rare) demand max ilvl and bis. If someone demands you go out of your way to get a 3rd party plugin, I would just ignore that group period.

And as previously mentioned, I don't see it being a "requirement" given how the game is designed and console support.

To add to this, those programs give an advantage to some players over others. Play Station players can't have these programs installed, so the people using the programs are cheating. It's not fair if everyone isn't competing on an equal footing. So if these people are gonna use programs, they shouldn't compete for world firsts (dunno whether the program can work when the content is still new). If you ask me, FF14's raiding scene would become way less interesting if people started using programs left and right.

OP, the mechanics aren't random. I memorized every single mechanic, in order, of Eden 6 Savage. It is possible.

But yeah the third party stuff does confer an advantage. And no, SE isn't going to start banning streamers for using them. It would damage the community.

That's where we need to draw the line though.
If someone is trying to force others to use addons, they should be reported.
As Yoshida said, it's a grey area, we would prefer you not to use addons, but if you do, just don't be a dick about it.

I will add to this:

• Your raid leader can make mistakes.
• Your raid leader cannot give your entire party individual callouts per your role in the mechanic.
• Your raid leader cannot give you callouts faster than the mechanic's in-game visual cues or with zero delay.

Stop rationalizing it and own it. You're using it to make the game easier.

True, it makes the game easier, but why should we care? It's not like more players clearing pve content affects us. Actually, if they need those tools to steal a clear, they are probably low skilled players that still need a lot of practice, so they're not really competing for world first.

I agree. Meters are fine, but callouts and automarkers are crossing the line.
