Bsrking5, don't you know that making threads such as these for DPS and Healers are a no-no on the forums? Especially DPS.
The rare times when someone actually brings up that DPS need to be held accountable, the thread turns into a discussion about parsers by the fourth response. DPS do not want to be held accountable like Tanks and Healers in casual content. That would include DR. Which if you bring up DPS and DR, then it becomes an essence discussion.
This thread is a joke, since out of the 90 runs I have done in DR normal, only two times where I had instances of tanks not wanting to tank. On the other hand, half or more the DPS dealing 7K damage or less for a run made up almost all of those 90 runs. I can only recall three runs where the all DPS were doing more than 10K.
The official forums would rather make threads about something that occurs so little while ignoring a continuous problem.
I'm of the mind of the person who posted above me. This happening is genuinely a rare occurrence and I'm going to guess that the OP had a bad experience and decided to vent about it on the forums, trying to push the narrative that it's the norm.
99.9% of the time, the issue is people not using a dps essence (Yes I'm looking at ya'll who throw on a defense essence and call it a day) or using an essence at all. I've ran DR probably well over 100-150 times now helping friends with relics and doing my own, I can count on one hand the amount of times we had tanks not wanting to tank.
Plenty of people dont want to tank. Usually I wait to see who wants to MT. When you dont have a healer in the group it makes it even more complicated along with players not using essences or even lost actions.
People not tanking is the least of the problems people run into in DR.
If you want people to play how you want do 1 of 2 thing .
Talk to the tank and be nice. Start from a hi then say what you want but be willing to get his point.
2. Make a pre made party of people you know and go like this.
All I ever expect from SF is people to say hi and be at minimum gear.
But as tank if you going to not even care to say hi and on top try to rush me you see no big pulls from me.
Had to check the date to see if this thread was necro'd, I just can't believe this is a thing. You must be really unlucky in DR.
To be fair, sometimes it's not even about not wanting to tank (My 255+ pug DRn runs experience tells me this much). Things like "Oh wait I thought I had the aggro!" or "Wait, what? Our MT died? When??" do happens. Large scale raids has that tendency to lull people into false sense of security that another player got it covered until things start to go really wrong or funny.I'm of the mind of the person who posted above me. There's not even any sort of trash pulls in DRn. What are you talking about? The OP is talking about DRn, not our generic dungeon pulls.
Unfortunately the only way to get a DR run that isnt snails pace is to go PF. I really wish there was an ingame tracker that just rewarded people who do close to nothing less (especially no completion rewards), similar to how fate participation works. Really doesnt have to be a tight target but atleast some contribution. I always dislike it when people on here act like there is no responsibility on dps.Bsrking5, don't you know that making threads such as these for DPS and Healers are a no-no on the forums? I’m curious now, pardon me if I ask a really dumb question. I have no intention of tanking so don’t groan too hard at me haha. But wouldn’t it be safer if some other tanks left their enmity stance on, and the MT regularly provokes if necessary? Or can better gear generate aggro too easily and would that create the ping-pong effect anyway? It seems rather risky to me if squishy dps/healers are next on the aggro list, instead of someone who can actually tank (whether by role or essence). It's quite common to see ping-pong'ing aggro when the main tank dies for whatever reason or early in first minute of pull. Once an MT is secured, normally the rest of tanks in the raid would turn off their stance and lags behind the rest of the raid members in term of generated enmity. Experienced DPS/Irregular/Profane user who knows what they're doing can easily hold the aggro for some time when this happens due to the stupidly absurd amount of damage they put out.
With delubrum there is a bit to consider with this question. Generally it is good to have another tank be second in aggro so that if MT dies no dps gets aggro. This can easily be done by just activating your stance later into the fight or dropping it for a bit. Not really a reason to spam provoke. If the person trying to MT has no damage essence and another tank has one and stance on, provoke will not help you stay MT. Not even against the weakest tank damage essences.I’m curious now, pardon me if I ask a really dumb question. I have no intention of tanking so don’t groan too hard at me haha.
