Something to note is that it doesn't seem to be a custom from the few Gyr Abanian monks we've seen (mainly Widargelt), that being the variety of monk that we can play as, but you could still make up your own lore about it being done by acolytes or something.

Also I have been looking at making an Elezen alt and while I'm mostly wanting to make use of the prettier race-specific styles, I'm intrigued by they have the shaved head as an option for the women when overall they seem very formal and traditional. Is it a cultural thing for one of the clans? Is there a story behind it? They've never used it for a character to my awareness.

If I get my alt created (amid my growing collection of them), I may need to at least come up with a "non-canon" glamour using it. I don't think I'd want to use it for her all the time but she does look very striking like that. Quite dependant on the camera angle though.
