Just because shadowbringer doesnt openly talk as directly about topics we can hear about in the news every day doesnt mean there is no political commentary in it. The way society is built in the crystarium and in eulmore and how they are presented is political commentary. By extension of that the rebuilding of the eulmorian government is aswell.
There's also the quest about the saltery in the lochs (i think late stormblood) where you're taking direct steps that the production is owned by the ala mhigan workers who move there and not by greedy monetarists.
Political commentary is always there if you look for it. In FF14 it's often packaged in a noblebright frame: there is always hope and things can improve if everyone works together.

This. There's an ongoing and very optimistic take on government that comes down to "what if everywhere the people in charge of countries were honest dedicated people who shared an ideal of making the world a better and more peaceful place?"

Is it realistic? Perhaps not. But when the real world seems to be slipping in the opposite direction, it's nice to see that ideal happening at least in a story where there are less barriers to it happening.

I think how readily the First put aside their differences and came together to pull themselves back from the brink is (a big) part of what made me love that world so much more than the Source. Like, yeah, maybe it is unrealistic, but I find myself overwhelmingly agreeing with Iscah that

To be fair, it's a lot easier to set aside differences and work together when you're being ravaged by literal monsters that turn other people into literal monsters. Especially when someone finally shows up who can just delete that problem.
