Hidde Glamours Locally (& other graphically immersive options)

This argument has been brought up time and time again and I'm pretty sure those in charge would never change the current stance (which I'm thankful for) due to the fact there is a decent chance it would hurt their bottom line.

So let's just say you have an ability to change the way people look at the "local" level, so folks only look the way they are not glamoured. You so much take a picture/screenshot of your character with an unglamoured character in the background (who didn't choose to be unglamoured for the purpose of this example) and than you're forcing your decisions on people... people ever see such pictures (or videos if it goes there) and people very well might buy less things for glamours (I mean assuming the announcement didn't already start that in the first place).

I mean even if you point all the ways the above scenario could be avoided, why on earth would anyone dictate how someone else dresses in a game, or for that matter in an MMO to begin with.... I get what the one side wants, but it doesn't just effect you, and therefore is a complicated situation, that doesn't make sense to mess with to begin with.

Just wanna do a quick side tangent here.

People always consider that it might hurt the bottom line if such a feature is implemented...but they also forget it can have the opposite effect as well. All those "I quit the game cuz bad immersion" people or "I avoid the game cuz bad immersion" people suddenly now have a reason to fill up that SE wallet.

Just pointing it out there for all the "might hurt the bottom line" people. Carry on.

The fact it keeps coming up means that people continue to want it. Something to consider as well.

Make it so the option turns off names or reduces them to initials. Poof your character is unrecognizable.

Now you're worried about SE's bottom line? let them worry about that.

And this option wouldn't affect anyone who didn't have it on. This isn't dictating how anyone can dress, people are free to put whatever they want on their character and will be able to see it 24/7.

This isn't saying to turn off glamouring entirely for everyone, this is giving people an option to reduce others impact on their own experience with no effect upon anyone but themselves.

Taking a screenshot at all without permission would be bad then but that's very much happening and no one cares. I also imagine (hope) that people that sensitive are an extreme minority.

It's a video game. It's not that big a deal on either end.

It very much does only affect me, just like parsers or reshade or third part graphical mods. Unless someone directly tells you in some way, you will live blissfully unaware of how other people see your character (not you) that is owned by a corporation (not you) on their own personal computer.

Again this feature already exists in another SE-owned MMO and no one has these mental gymnastics brought into it.

Now we have people worried about a corporations bottle line and the possibility on the off chance some randomly stumbles on a screenshot or video of their character.

This is why I swear their is some deeper reason people are against this cause these mental gymnastics are insane.

They do sell costumes on Mogstation.
Current players are playing the game as it is now. If they are so unhappy with the glamour stuff, they'd unsub already or did not get the game after their trial (if any).

You can simply look around when you join a roulette. How often do you see people with glamour on?

They didnt put that option in the game to please you. they put that option in because the game was designed to be run on a PLAYSTATION TWO so it needed options like that to help reduce the strain on loading data. something a game from 10 years later has evolved past the need for.

And this game was designed to run on a PS3 so what's your point? Not everyone has a beefy rig or may in fact still be playing on a regular PS4 so an option like this would in fact help those players to improve performance. Also let's not pretend this game isn't without its quirks and for a game designed and built 10 years after its older cousin shows a lot of the same issues.

People who want this option don't hate the glamour system entirely, they just wish they had more control.

Really nobody is. Most of it's proponents will concede this will likely never see the light of day. But discussing how we'd like it and it's pro's and cons is what this forum is for in part.
