personally I think that the moment you put on the crown you accepted a responsibility to teach and guide others if we look up the meaning of the word "Mentor"

if your unwilling to do so then please remove your burger king crown and lower your head in shame if anything SE needs to enforce their ToS and start handing out 24 Hour / 3 Day bans to those who are purposely doing this

Yeah sure, but what about those that don't care about your advice? And sometimes people want to see mechanics for themselves. Not gonna feel any shame, I do my job as a mentor, but I play for myself too, sorry if that offends you. That includes not being glued to the chat when some people can't even speak English so they can't understand what I babble about.

I don't understand this problem at all. I play enough of this game as a mentor and no one has ever said anything about me not giving advice etc., you guys are hand-holding the silent majority but what do they think apart from the few triggered ones? Alot of sprouts I meet don't even want all that advice, they enjoy seeing things for the first time and learning from their experience. If someone needs my help, I generally do what is requiered of me.

I can be the most generous and hard-working mentor there is, but you guys don't take into consideration that people have families, partners, a real life job. Unsub for a few months and come back with a clear mind because I really disagree with this assesement of how things are. Who is this demographic of suffering sprouts I hear from all the time? I literally cannot see them. I run my dailies alongside with sprouts and they do surprisingly well. You guys completly miss the mark on communication because the way it works in this game is awful. Most people are cramped inside Discord servers and sometimes don't even pay attention to chat.

Now why would someone want to get rid off this if not for the crown? Burger king crown? Why is there so much emphasis on phrasing that specific term in a sarcastic fashion? Makes no sense to me. I guess no one is allowed to show where they stand in this game by progression and experience now is it?

sorry but it sorta just sounds like your making excuses when you apply for the mentor roulette your making a commitment mentors real ones are people who have given freely of their time to teach others how to play the game sure sometimes people do not wish to listen and that's to bad and in that case you can always vote to abandon if it does not work out the mentor system is not actually flawed the problem is the people who sign up for it with zero intention of fulfilling their chosen role

Haha, yeah I guess you also keep a protocol on how I play this game and where I divert my attention to. Dedicate in how? I created an FC for the sole purpose of getting people started during the lockdown, since people generally had more time on their hands. I wasted millions of my gil giving people appropriate gear or bought them mounts because they had none. I did my part, and most of you probably did absolutely nothing but it's so easy to villify people with a png. icon inside a game nowadays.

You people have a quite interesting perception of things. Why do you think there is such a thing as a salary? Or why certain careers provide more desirable income? It's associated with alot of factors but it's equally involving in risks. That means that people generally want to make sure their time is fairly compensated in comparison to their real life responsibilities. Hence why rewarding mentors is a good idea. My priorities are with the people I commited myself to, not to some person named _Koneko_ or anyone for that matter.

Stop putting so much pressure on people and unsub from this game if you can't help doing otherwise. If a mentor is screwing up their job just tell them and until then, it's entirely up to SE to find a suitable way to deal with the Mentorship issues, but I am simply getting tired of this hate bandwagon because it's cool to hate on mentors.

Where does it say mentors have to "teach" in the game? Giving advice and tips is definitely not the same as teaching. Also, if you haven't read the whole thread, I think it might be a good idea to do so since it'll give you insight on the different arguments given by both sides.

it says it right in the meaning of the word Eien713 to mentor someone is to teach your arguments are ultimately useless because they all result in a excuse to escape from your chosen responsibilities the community don't owe the mentors anything you choose to hopefully be mentors because you wanted to teach others and improve the community but all i'm seeing in this thread is the selfish desires to reap the rewards while failing to carry out the station you have assigned your selves the mentor roulette is a privilege not a right and if you cannot carry out the duties that crown entail then surrender it

I have done my part, end of story. If someone is in need of help, I help. If someone is actively struggling, I do what is best and give advice.

How more selfish can you get than to subjugate a person under your own narcissistic ideas of what a mentor should be. Selfish you say? The benefits are laughable aside from a mount and a crown. That's hardly worth running 1000 instances and accumulating 1500 player commendations. You get nothing by being a mentor except more and more disrespect lately. In fact, I think mentors should be alot more selfish given the ridiculous posts I see in this thread.

The word mentor is just that: a word--a label the devs happened to choose to designate someone who's knowledgeable about the game. The game itself gives its view of a mentor's duties in the screenshot that SturmChurro has supplied. So to me, that outweighs the word's definition in the dictionary. Again, skim through the thread for more insight on the other party (mentors)'s arguments.

Also, it's just so easy to judge when we're sitting on a high horse. You will never understand the struggles of mentors unless you become one and witness them for yourself. People keep stubbornly attacking mentors and bashing them, but most of the time, I find that these people are just infected by the general negativity spread by others or are influenced by that one or two (could be more but surely nowhere near as frequent as some people seem to think or make it out to be) bad encounters they had with mentors. These people refuse to look at reality and be objective, and they're certainly too obstinate to even listen to any sound arguments the other party gives.

Wear your crown with pride. If you did what was necessary you earned it. Don't cave into the stupid mob like most people do.
