    ... naw.

Ya, the other side is not any better.

The level of Ego you got to have to say that the makers of this game, and the outfits they make that the lore supports, Is breaking your immersion. That is crazy, that your vision of what the game should be should be added as an option.

From what I can tell those in support of the feature do not wish to detract anything from another player, they just wish to have the ability to enhance their own experience by altering or removing the certain items. The dev’s vision will still be upheld for the general player base.

I know that is my stance, I do not wish to remove any glam from the game, just from my sight. If this is an ego driven stance, then so be it. Though then I would say the other side of the coin is an ego driven stance also, since it more or less boils down to tough not much you can do about expect close your eyes or don’t play.

There are extremes on either side, quite so. Yet there are also reasonable discussions about possible implementations that address MANY complaints.

It's not ego-maniacal to want a game that I pay to access, and payed for the hardware to run and the internet access to play be customizable and allow me to RP my character and story as I please without affecting others.

My personal character story having a stoic warrior of light, who supposedly chooses stalwart and competent companions to do battle in these warrens full of baddies, becomes a little jarring when one of these people shows up in jammies and it would be nice if I had an option to fix that.

My personal stance isn't that "omg it breaks so much immersion". It's that It's hard to live out the story I want to in this game when people are literally trying their hardest to be as goofy as possible and I'm forced to deal with it with no recourse.

The makers of this game do have a vision and I've noticed that aside from notably non mandatory stories it's kept to a certain tone and aesthetic. I believe this is done on purpose and they've mentioned so themselves.

What you want is not supported by the lore. Yes, you are the warrior of light and all that, but the lore comments about how adventures fashion, and just how weird they are. The silly stuff that people wear, that is supported in the lore.

Adventures being goofy with outfits is part of the lore of the world. Yes you have a main plot that keeps the goofy stuff out, but that does not mean all the side stuff are "Filler" they are part of the lore and world as well.

Your story does not fit the narrative of the game UNLESS you go out of your way to only invite players from a Linkshell that you have the same views as you, but if you use duty finder. Than your rp needs to understand the world you live in, as adventures that are weird, adventures that wear dumb things, and just don't care. That is the lore and world your char lives in, and turning a blind eye to that is bad rp in my honest view. But, I don't RP so it is not like my two cents on what is good and bad matters.

.. so you think my RP that I choose to engage with in this game is against the RP that I should play because the designers put it in the game SOMEWHERE so I HAVE to work that in even though they also made it compartmentalized so that I wouldn't have to engage in it if I didn't want to but the fact that it exists means I HAVE to account for it?

It's a game yo. If I want to pretend in my head that I'm someone and my motivations are such, why is that bad? If I would like options to support that playstyle that in no perceivable way affects anyone else why is that bad?

I'm not turning a blind eye to the lore, I accept that out there are adventurers who wish to appear silly or talk a certain way or even PRETEND that they're actually running dungeons in a speedo and pighead. But my character, who I get to create motivations for, is my realm of play as long as it only affects me. My characters progression through the story is affected by people yukking it up with obtuse glamours. Why don't I deserve to have tools to fix that?

The fact you don't RP and just play the game means that all you're here to do is be contrary. If you don't RP you don't care what lore is "valid" or even why people value their stories. You're just here to poke.

Might I remind you that if you're paying attention to the actual lore.. that guy is a cheat and a fake. Very much so I would not wish him in my party of adventurers I trust my life to.

So you accept the lore supports this. So why should a option to change how these people dress that is supported in the lore and the world be added?

I'm just confused. Because of how you RP. You think that a option should be added to turn off what your person sees, even if you fully accept that it is part of the lore of the game. I'm trying to understand your side from a RP point, yet everything that I learn about RP says that what you want makes no sense.

Because this is a video game people play for entertainment and if an option can be added that enhances that entertainment and allows MORE engagement it should be considered.

Because RP is a fantasy thing. I"m well aware you don't understand why or how. You're also taking this from the perspective that I think all changes should somehow NEED to be explained by ingame mechanics or lore. This idea gets broken all the time. The final consideration of any feature should be whether it enhances or improves the experience not whether we can justify why we've never seen child lalafell or not.

We have a UI that isn't explained by anything. We have the capability to stave off the "end of the world" until we get around to it... my desire for this is because I would be able to enjoy my experience more, not because I think they're committing some sort of Lore Faux-pas.

Ok so you just want it change because you would get more enjoyment out of it. Alright that is all I need to know. That is perfectly understandable, more so than people saying it breaks immersion.

Well I do see two problems with that, One fashion is a end game statement for most players. Giving players an option to turn off what I spend millions of gil on, devalues glam items for me. Taking away my fun. Also what you want goes against the very nature of what a MMORPG is, when it comes to how players look.

So since this is a game in your words. Your option would do more harm for others than good.
