My retainers ARE leveled and geared. The bring me back garbage. Then you aren't reading the right guides. Retainers are great for making gil if you level and gear them up. That is a non combat and non crafting equivalent. I'm no hardcore crafter or raider, but I've got more gil than I currently know what to do with. There is no need to punish crafters for their leves.
I'm sitting on six mil. Get back to me when you can macro up a million in a few hours of crafting.
Don't need to. My retainers bring back a lot of junk, sure, but they also bring back items that sell for a small sum (10k+) or higher at times. Sorry about your luck, but perhaps what you view as garbage might actually add up over time. I never said it was fast, but it's effective. There is also treasure maps, like someone else said. Doing them nets more, but you can always sell them daily for a quick 40-50k depending on the day. Like I said before, don't blame crafters. There's no need to punish them. There are plenty of ways to make gil that, while they might be as fast, still work just fine. Expecting to make as much as a hardcore crafter and just as fast without actually being one is setting your expectations way too high. It's never going to happen. But there are plenty of ways to go about it otherwise.
My sister and I just started up retainers. Sometimes they bring us stuff that sells for 30k gil. For someone who doesn't have the time to do crafting stuff right now, that's a really good profit in my opinion. And, sometimes they bring back useful gear or even allagans. Then you aren't reading the right guides. Retainers are great for making gil if you level and gear them up. 30k for doing nothing for an hour? It absolutely is a good profit. My sister and I just started up retainers. Sometimes they bring us stuff that sells for 30k gil. Shame it's not as impactful as I hoped.
People exaggerate, immensely, on the amount of time it takes to fly from one place to another. I do it for sake of it now and then. XIV's world is nowhere near as large as the "old" MMOs people think of when teleportation restrictions are mentioned.
I like that aetherytes in the same map will have the same price.
What about the free teleport tickets u get with hunt seals?
I heard their getting some changes, that concerns me cause I been using those since 2.5 for free teleports all around the world.
Being annoyed that someone who spent millions leveling and gearing a crafter, plus hours and hours leveling and doing all the job quests, then spends a few hours crafting to make 900k a week (before mats are accounted for) seems like a waste of energy to me.
You can make far more than that on battle jobs if you put in a fraction of the effort it took to spam the leves in the first place.
Six million is sufficiently comfortable that a few slightly-raised fees between Stormblood zones are not worth counting. At loosely 500 gil extra per teleport, you'd need 2000 trips from Eorzea to Othard or back again for the price rise to cost you 1 million gil – and even if you did do that many trips then you'll presumably do a similar amount between Eorzea and Norvrandt, at which point you make the money back again because everything is cheaper than it would have been.
Well maybe some ppl need teleport back to Limsa for a good meal from Bismarck every in-game meal.Six million is sufficiently comfortable that a few slightly-raised fees between Stormblood zones are not worth counting. IRL I read that when buffet air ticket was a thing in US, certain ppl fly to another city and back just to get a meal for lunch![]()
