Do you have confirmation on Carbuncle being your only pet? Because that would mess with the abilities you get at certain SMN quests. What I think is more likely is that, similar to Eos and Selene being made the same in Shadowbringers, Summon I (Emerald Carbuncle and later Garuda Egi), Summon II (Topaz Carbuncle and later Titan Egi), and Summon III (Ifrit Egi) will be functionally the same in Endwalker, with you still being able to glamour them as a Carbuncle.
