Do you guys want a bad community?

It is kind of interesting though; for a game that 'sucks', people sure care a lot about it to argue this much. If it truly had no content worth playing through, people wouldn't even argue, they'd just leave.

i enjoys this game and still plays it daily but still doesnt hide the fact that its not a game that can compete with incoming MMOs (short form : this game still sucks.)

1) I have the feeling at least 50% of the people here are not even FFXIV players.
2) The community in-play is awesome. I hardly see bad stuff hapenning and most people are really helpful.
3) The guy from the topic you are talking about had it coming.

He made a topic about how bad FFXIV was. He basically said that FFXIV sucks, because he couldn't find a way (for one hour!) to attack the monsters on the Limsa Lominsa introdcution quest. He added that he was great in playing WoW, that he was a hardcore raider that finished every raid in WoW .... well I am sorry, if you claim yourself to be any kind of hardcore MMORPG player it really shouldn't be too hard to find out how to attack a monster. Read the freaking manual. The quest even explains what you have to do ....

If he had made a topic asking for help I am sure people would have helped him. If he made a topic to say that he controls are not that great and they should be changed, people would have agreed with him. Making topic number 90435839486 just to say how bad FFXIV is was stupid and he got what he deserved for not thinking twice before opening a new thread.

I ignore 90% of the people on this forums and the small minority that actually actively posts on these forums do not make up the entire community. I am not concerned for the community cause people being rude to others is human nature, it'll happen in the best neighborhoods and on the worst just as equally.

A good community is built around cooperation in-game in FF's case not by being a forum vigilante crying foul everytime someone speaks their mind. I usually stay a neutral party in most cases but personally I find it rude that people create silly topics (like this one) and get angry when people either disagree or takes offense to it.

I vote we stop making topics to comment on mindless bickering troll-a-thons in other topics, its rather annoying and Kita you are not the only one doing it....

While I agree with you Kilta... unfortunantly, lecturing the offenders will only fall on deaf ears. If they cared, they wouldn't have been so rude in the first place. But at the same time... I'm glad someone said something anyway, because if we want a nice community, we have to stand up for it.

While there were a number of rude people in that thread, there were a number of helpful ones too. A far sight better than a lot of games. I think this game has a good chance.

Well, for one I have to say that if you don't like a thread - or that thread is trolling the game, why don't you just ignore it? Why should you reply and bash the user for posting his opinion (however false it may be). This applies to any thread.

I mean, if I disagree with someone, I state my opinion. But if someone is clearly saying "this game sucks" for sports, I just close the firefox tab and on to another. Easy right? ;P
