    Why?
    What happens at 168 hours?
Is there some extra tutorial? Or an in game player skill test?

There are people with 500+ hours in that can't pull their own weight. Putting a tag for an arbitrary number of hours will probably just cause an exodus of mentors good and bad.

168 hours is the same amount of time Sprouts keep their newbie status (on top of reaching ShB). Level Skip people are new people that throw themselves into the last stretch of the game, skipping all tutorials and learning curve, thus in heavy need of mentoring.

Mentors are supposed to mentor Sprouts aka new players. If they drop it because they are more frequently grouped with new players then they weren't doing it to mentor new players, they were doing it for l33t cool horsey boi.

One suggestion I've thrown around before would be to have a mandatory tutorial if you buy a skip. Could be a general one for each role or even something specific for classes. Bonus if it was repeatable. What's that you bought a skip for BLM? Here do this to get a general idea. What's that you haven't played BLM in a while? Here do this for a refresher.

I don't understand why mentors should be obliged to teach those players how to play their class (apart from the fact that they may not be able to do that).

If I encounter player as described by the OP in higher content (~ level 60+) i just kick them.

Because when you mentor someone it's sorta in the job description. Unless you're one of THOSE mentors we hear about in the novice network.

Many are players that are not mentors as well. Stop with the mentor bashing. Its absurd.

to be honest im a bit afraid of ew in this aspect. i'm already seeing all these sages who think: 'oh cool, a healer at lvl 70 without doing anything.'
i'm afraid of the players who never healed before and also dont put the 'work' into reading all the jobs skills. for some the drk skills up to 30 are alteady too many to read all of them

    Edited the OP for clarification:

What this topic is meant to discuss is people that decided to skip all of the game tutorials and learning curve to jump straight to the end of the game getting queued up with people that DID NOT accept to take up the role of Mentors, resulting in situations where you have to sit through 50+ minutes in a dungeon explaining basic role actions and mechanics that should be known by that point but the player decided to skip, or take a 30 minute penalty if you leave, essentially punishing the players no matter what for the decisions of 1 person.

TL;DR this is not a discussion about capabilities but a discussion about decisions.

While I'm also worried about this, you'd need a level 70 job before being able to access Sage, so even if the player is new to healing he'd at least know not to run away with a stack marker or to not stand in orange.

I am pretty sure the job description was "providing gameplay advice" and not "offer a full job guide how to play your class properly".

The other three players could decide not to carry them .

I don't think putting them together with mentors would be much help. Those who do not even bother to read their skill descriptions will likely answer with "u don't pay my sub" "i play how i want" to advice.

So somehow mentors are suppose to fix the "i play how i want" crowd of people who don't listen to anyone. Right... Well i see why some more people mentor bash now. You blame mentors for all the bad players like its mentors fault.
