If i die because some idiot is recreating a meme, i lose an extra 2% durability on my gear? That is literally nothing to me. On the other hand, dying on a BA run and not being able to finish? THAT is a consequence. The OP died one extra time in an alliance raid. Their "consequence" is an extra 200 gil on their repair bill, and the irritation at the person who caused it. So nothing.
I loved XI as much as the next guy but gamers these days don't want it. And progging a fight for a few days (as in not winning first try) IS still a consequence.

And i still disagree. Doing min-ilvl Savage fights means you are SIGNING UP for repeated wipes as your group figures out the mechanics(if blind) and/or figures out how to execute everything properly together. That means death isnt a consequence, its a feature of the content. And as Tarrick points out, you do already have the tools to deal with such tomfoolery. Tomfoolery which i would imagine would be far less common then what the OP was complaining about, which still doesnt really happen often enough to be a concern.
