Ok, but in the case of Cross Play it's not the same game and it's definitely not the same graphics running at 60fps, I can guarantee you that. No, that's Remote Play - and not many PS3 games a compatible with it; it has to be manually enabled on a per-game basis (although it seems to be universally compatible if the game's being emulated from an earlier system like the original Playstation).
Noir is talking about Cross Play - same game published on both consoles, accessing the same save data via cloud storage, or people with the game on the PS3 being able to play with people who have the game on the PS Vita, ala Wipeout 2048 <> Wipeout HD/Fury. There's a Metal Gear game planned that'll allow cross-play single player by stashing its saves on SEN and being published for both Vita and PS3.

Well of course not. Despite 'fact the Vita's specs average out about similar to the PS3 when you factor in the RAM, it's processing power is lower and comes from a totally different architecture. Code written for the PS3's cell processor is basically incompatible with the standardised stuff in the PS Vita, even setting aside the lower maximum screen resolution.
Frankly, if they go with a port rather than something platform-specific, they'd probably have an easier time porting from the PC.

I just don't see them porting the entire game regardless.
However, if they do release some sort of app or game that latches into ffxiv (chocobo raising, crafting, anything really) I can see myself buying a Vita at that point.
