Then wait until you can be a proper judge of the person? I mean it's for the best, just focus on the RP till you know you can trust the person, if they act like they come from GenshinTWT they probably aren't an adult. If someone lies they are bound to eventually slip up. and Discord does ask your age verification, that's why I think it's at least a smidge better.

    Again:
    - This isn't real life
    - You can't expect people who are role-playing as a fake character to look at another person as a real human

You're also heavily assuming that people don't talk to the person first to feel them out. The times that I've been approached by courts has never been: "Hey bb, let's go fk." It's always been a conversation where I'm asked about myself and flirted with before it's been brought up. I feel like people have a severe lack of understanding of how this stuff works and are making heavy assumptions about what actually goes down. If you have never been to a legit venue and engaged in stuff like this, please don't act like you know what you're talking about.

By in large much of this seems to boil down to out of sight out of mind. Not so much as protect the children, more so protect their tiny bubble of a perfect world.

I'm well aware of what roleplay is, but OOC is still an important part you can't just do anything to other people's characters that'd be godmodding, and honestly yeah the standard type of ERP that floats in my mind doesn't have much of a feel them out period. Then again, if someone lies to you then that's not exactly your fault at that point.

My god the size of that red flag. And no, this does not have anything to do with minors BTW.

Similarly, real life interactions at like.. a baseball game or camp site aren't "rated" by anyone either, that doesn't mean everyone has license to go full perv when it suits them.

At camp, kids might see some adult behavior or hear some language...heck the guys in the next tent over might even be getting in on...but if they wanna go swim in the pool for an hour or two the first thing I think about should not be "oh man I hope some older perv doesn't try to touch my kids".

Like I'm saying with camp- it doesn't mean there can't be adult goings on...but it is the adult's responsibility to check they are engaging with an adult 100%. Ignorance is no excuse and "I didn't know he was a boy.. or that he was 13" would not hold up in any court of law.
The ratings board doesn't deem the online elements acceptable for your kid, though; it's literally stated on the rating that it doesn't apply to online interactions. It's your choice to ignore that and not supervise your kid, and then scream "NOT MY FAULT; GAME SAID T!" if something goes wrong. You're just making excuses to be a lazy parent.

Online isn't baseball or camp; you can't see who you're interacting with. There's no reasonable way to know if someone is lying, so you're not legally responsible for knowing if someone is lying. It's perfectly reasonable to expect parents to watch their kids, though; so your kids are actually your responsibility... Crazy concept, right?

Yeah, it's concerning. I never said I look at it like that or want to look at it like that but it's the way the internet works. People put on persona's and disregard the actual person behind the screen that they're talking to. Even in friendships made online you'll see this happen. It's why people feel more free to insult others online because they don't actually know the person they're talking to and will most likely never meet them.

Also don't rpers also don't want to take things OOC? They consider talking OOC as a bad form of RP. So does that not make things even tougher to find out real age or not?

As I said noone is saying let pedos be pedos. All we are saying is that this issue is not so black and white. Ryne has no rights, Pedos is also a sickness, that you can't just magical turn off like some people think. And from what I was told about RPers. If they do something with a minor, They don't know about it because they try to respect ooc. Crazy how that works huh? I think most people if they wanted to do a background check, they would rather do it to find the gender, than worry about the age lol.

I really do think. "Protect the kids" came up because besides the devs not wanting people to do it. They feel like they have a moral high ground to stand on to punish and get rid of these mods that they don't use and or can't use. So it is easier to attack people, and the issue when you got little kids as a backing on why it is bad.
