If you pay money for digital currency it shouldn't expire. Period, end of story.A quick google finds this.

EXPIRATION OF SQUARE ENIX CRYSTA
Square Enix Crysta remains valid for 2 years from the date they were purchased and expires* at the end of the final month. For example, if you purchased Crysta on May 10, 2017, it would expire on May 31, 2019.
* Please note that each Crysta purchase has its own expiry date.
You can try talking to customer service. I'm not sure why it has an expiration.
Your money doesn't "expire" why should Crysta?
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Seriously, if you have so much trouble with the payment options in the Square Enix's online shop then buy a game time card code. You can buy them on Amazon or other shops. If Square Enix doesn't want your money directly then you can use this option. And Asmongold mentioned this on his stream that Square Enix makes it hard to give them money.
Cheers
That such a thing still exists.
Here in Germany, there was also something like that, for example, with prepaid cards for cell phones.
At some point, someone went to court with it and that went through all the instances up to the highest court.
Whether it was only the highest German court or even the European Court of Justice, I do not know right now. Anyway, the decision was that neither money nor money-like funds can expire. They must remain available or be repaid.

This right here. I don't ever trust any game company to safeguard my personal information correctly. I will link a PayPal account because I can put hard limits on how much I can lose when the game company inevitably gets hacked.
On the flip side one of the banks I've used in the past had a hair-trigger for their fraud detection. Using it anywhere but a big box store was almost always guaranteed to get the card locked. I don't use their cards anymore.
I know that most canadian provinces don't allow for gift cards to have an expiry date unless it's promotional.
They accept Amex? Holy shit.
My expat fb group complains a LIT about Germany and this. Lol.
Can you buy Crysta for an NA account with a EU card? That's why I couldn't play my other account - I couldn't buy the expansion and put a sub on it with a Swedish Mastercard.
I want to put a month on it, move my old main, and take her gil lol.
I assume yes if it's a credit card (or a debit card that also functions as a cc), but I personally use paypal for it due to laziness
My PayPal account is also European so that might be an issue too. The problem comes from needing a "local" billing address.
Unfortunately this is one place Blizzard got it right. I can pay for my NA wow stuff with an EU account no problem.
