Their figures are highest on NA, but there's a lot more showing up recently on Chaos. The thing to remember is the surveys have certain criteria on them that means they don't capture newer players for the most part.
With that in mind...

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
So I was going to bring this up but couldn't remember where I'd read it. Turns out I'm not crazy and Yoshi-P said in an interview that playable lizardmen (which ones..?) are something he personally would've liked added to the game (but very likely isn't happening ever).
There's concept art of more lizard-y looking Au Ra... but only males, of coursethey probably ditched the idea because they couldn't figure out how to make lizard waifus lmao.
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

I think Viera will make this flip, the Bun Bun boys are way too cute ...I vaguely recall a possibly giant thread about this back in HW when the race was introduced. It basically boiled down to using the gender differences to allow players to either have a fierce and powerful looking character or something soft and cute. The only complaint I really have at this point is there wasn't a race that essentially flipped this later by having tall fierce powerful looking females with small soft cute males.
Edit: (at Post count for the day![]()
While true, and an interesting fact, which misses a few details from the Benchmark:While it is inverted for Viera, the difference in height between males and females on the tall and short end is 5.1-6.6cm looking at the heights from benchmark. Not quite the radical difference of Au Ra. Unless it was the tallest female Viera against the shortest male Viera, I likely won't notice the height difference at a cursory glance.
Male Viera
186.5 (6'1.44") Max
172.2 (5'7.68") Min
---
Female Viera
191.4 (6'3.36") Max
178.8 (5'10.44") Min
Variance:
Max 4.9cm (1.92")
Min 6.6cm (2.76")
But this has nothing to do with Cute Factor, Bun Bun Bois are cute, like no matter how hard you try they are adorable, while Female Viera can be everything from super cute to tough Tomboy's with attitude.
Like really easy to be a Girl with a goatee...
but try to go rugged...
(my best shot at a masculine Male Viera, I did try too. Sleepy Stoner Eyes, natural hair and eye color, the least feathered hair style. Floppy ears for added stoner looks. Face Tatts in black, no lip color, goatee if this was Live I would name him Shaggy Twinky'eater) Referencing the Junk food found at 7-11, and not the slang.
Meanwhile on Live. My Viera Alt.

I wouldn't say lots tbh.You aren't the only one, lots of female au ra players want to be taller. There was a huge thread about this in HW and even today you still get complaints about this amongst other things like horns not being decoupled.
Tis no wonder the moment it was discovered modders piled on correcting this making xaelas in particular taller. Gives them the menacing yet good looking look thats missing for females but filled for the menfolk by the au ra.
At the very least, they could change the max height of the female au ra and leave the minimum alone, so those that want to be cutesy lizards can continue to do so while those that want to be tall badass dragon girls can have their fun too.
More often than not, every au ra player is min height that I've seen with the high pitch voice. Au ra only have one high pitch voice((which is weird because theyre made to be cute)) so its kinda easy to tell.
That has also been my experience. I actually thought max height au ra was smaller than it is due to this. Pleasant surprise as I tower over most miqo and fellow au ra.
That's quite interesting. I didn't think there were that many fewer male Raen from a statistics point of view.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
And honestly the gender dimorphism is nice, I like it. It's a nice feature for a fantasy race.

Well, up to now it's been the case, but anecdotally I've seen a lot of Raen sprouts about recently, so once the newer players begin meeting the eligibility criteria for the count, it'll be interesting to see how it's changed.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
It's because the male xaela just look way more cool to a lot of people.
Raens for some reason tend to be really popular with lgbt people and don't look as cool as male xaela.
