They can't even get the current newest races into the game in a finished state. You think they'd be able to do both a finished new race and add more customization options? Someone really doesn't learn from history.
...I read this title and instantly thought, "Yeah! We need to add an Ishgard/Chocobo forest short Race track to Chocobo Racing! I'm tired of the Sagolii Desert spam!"
Every race comes with a monkey's paw except Miqo'te
"I want a tall elvish race!"
Granted but they have really long necks with tendency to break in weird positions and weird animations
"I want a normal human race dammit"
Granted but they look like weird ken doll souless robots
"I want a rugged-like human not these skinny guys"
Granted but zombie eyebags and NO EYEBROWS LOLOLOL
"I want to be a hot tittilating human woman"
Granted but all your voice choices are grating and btw *drags lips further and further away from the nose* hope you like being stuck with bigger upper lips to fix this
"I said I want to be a TALL badass woman"
Granted but squared flat nose, no hips and if you want to look cute you only have one face
"I want to be a huge buff dude"
Granted but your body is shaped like Wreck-it-Ralph and your head is even smaller than his. Also pacman mouth.
"I want to be a small cute guy/girl"
Granted but your torso is a potato and you will barely see the details in your glamour unless it's a dress
"I want to be a demon-lizard like person"
Granted but you're stuck with these horns and scale shapes you can't customize lololol and if you're a guy you look ridiculous when you're running
"I want to be a tall hot bunny girl"
Granted but your hat/head customization sucks
"I want to be a big buff beastman, too many humans and kemonomimi in this dammit"
Granted but you have back problems, you can't change your hair without a fantasia, you can only pick two hairstyles per face, you can't wear most hats, and glasses float a foot away from your face
Meanwhile with Miqo'te:
"I want to be a catgirl"
Granted but... uh... everyone else will be one too!
"Nah I want to be a catboy"
Granted but then er... hmm... well... uh, artritis hands in your neutral standing stance! Ha! I bet you totally regret it now huh??
You can also only be barely 5 ft tall if you want to play a female character. This whole post is too on point, tho...

I do see a niche for maybe a small race that isn't "cute," but maybe more "cool". Wow has dwarves and goblins, GW2 has asura.
Some players like the "tiny but fierce" or "spry rogue" archetype, and I hate to say it but lala only *ironically* fill these roles that could be played totally straight with, for example:
* a small monkey-like race like kobolds
* a small fish-like race like sahagin
* a small bird-like race like ixali
I don't think a new race is necessary. And I don't think any of the above options are particularly likely because we already have so many beast tribes hitting similar beats. However, looking back on the game in retrospect it does seem like a pretty large design hole that, imo, would have made the game much more marketable to western playerbases who generally find less appeal in "cute" races.
Goblins, since they're technically not a Beast Tribe!
I dunno if SE will ever add any more playable races aside from the male/female counterparts of Viera and Hrothgar, but one thing I wish they'd have done with Lalafell was make them more beastlike. Too often I find it easy to picture Lalafells with deer or mouse traits (ears, eyes, nose, tail). But, they're more faerie like than anything, so I guess that's okay. I still love them.
Three Ilm Knights, One Thousand Malm Road
All of the races could use just a bit more to their design to distinguish them from just humans but large/tall/small or with bits stuck on if you ask me...
Need another small player race? Why not Ivalice Moogles? The perfect fit.
90% of lalafell wear fox ears anyway so what's the point?
