Hydelean also helped save Krile from the whole Isle of Val incident. Hydelean also seems to not take in any in coming aether when a rejoining happens and instead directs it to the land. Most in Eorzea didn't even worship her as a God. Many worshiped one of the twelve. If you don't know your God is a planet sized primal or back when we thought her as a God that she'd be a God above the gods for only one continent you're not going to be sending a whole lot of energy her way.

Autocorrect is increasingly frustrating and too eager for its own good – I end up writing all sorts of things I don't intend, and it seems to be increasingly picking up short fragments and misassuming. "To" becomes "time" and "should" becomes "shouldn't", and because I don't catch it immediately and stop it from making the change, it thinks it's doing the right thing. >_<

Wow it's actually interesting to see it say 7:36 PM (I know you're in a different country) because it really drive it home that I do quite literally work over nights... since it's almost 6 am now here in florida ^____^

But yeah it seems to really like to jump to the first thing it thinks of even when you know you're spelling something correctly you type in hell? Ohh you must be saying hello! ... >.<

And in any case it wasn't because of Azem's power, because the other Ascians can't do it that way. Emet is puzzled and fascinated by the fact that the Exarch seems to have summoned us with our body intact, implying that this is something beyond even their ability.

We made it across the Rift in one piece because we weren't sent, but summoned by a method that the Ascians did not know existed.

And the reason we were able to be summoned is that Minfilia went first and halted the Flood so G'raha could go there and summon us to do our part. There is no getting around that sequence and skipping straight to "us saving the First" because those other pieces had to be in the right positions to make it happen.
While we didn't know then, we never asked if we couldn't, and we eventually did anyways. In fact we didn't even need to be summoned at all now that I think about it. You still have the option of going down to the base of the Tower on the Source and using the device to travel to the First if you ever wanted to. So no, it is within our power to travel any rift at any time as long as there is a way to do so and we should know this already due to not only the events of CT, but also the fight in the Chrysalis being in another plane of existence. We could have all gone together. The Warriors of Darkness, Minfilia and Us. Hell, even our mounts and items crossed with us and that point is brought up as odd and is part of the main scenario as a major plot point. Our characters never asking questions and never being able to interject is a major let down in this games story.

Azem is not like other Ascians. It is not in their power to summon or travel the way we do. Each stone of the Convocation bestows upon its wielder the power of that particular office based upon the innate magic for whom the stone was made for. As Emet could see the hues of the soul with greater clarity (befitting his role as Hades), Azem could summon friends from afar and beyond (The literal Traveler and Shepard to the Stars). We see this when Emet's shade frees us from Eldibus's trap. Being mute and never sharing our other experiences is getting people killed for no reason.

Just my opinion. Won't lose sleep if you don't like it.

Which device are you talking about the one we found at the beginning of Shadow Bringers that G'raha Tia used as a focal point to pinpoint ourselves to him so he couldd use his knowledge and Magicks on us for the first time correctly? The same device that both Biggs and Wedge never saw before then and thought that it had a counterfeit insignia for iron works on it? That device Riastrad? The same very one that he, without them needing to say it, sent from the future to the past 200 years after Cid broke the code on the rift and Alexander?

Oh and one last question the device that doesn't look like a device but the one that looks like a cog that would go into a piece of machinery to help it function?

That be the one. No active magic is currently being used to summon us after The Exarch turns into Crystal, yet we can traverse the barrier just fine. I understand you are trying to differentiate between the object Nero cast into the Towers base and the one the Exarch used, yes?

Riastrad after we get summoned by the Exarch we automatically attuning to an atheryte crystal (he says to literally attune to it as soon as we get inside the Chrystarium and that's literally the first place we go to in there) and it is assumed that we can teleport there like we would on the source. When we are first summoned there we are magically teleported by the Exarch because the same thing that happens to us had happened to the Scions. The beacon was placed there as a beacon to Guide him closer to our Aether and our Soul and give him something something more physical from his time and place to pull us Aetherically, and physically to him. With out that beacon/device he would have just kept pulling the souls of our Friends accidentally.

Nice try, but you don't end up at the Aetheryte after using it. You end up inside the Crystal Tower. So we are more bound to the Tower that has been hinted to play a role in later expansions by Yoshida. As a time travelling, rift opening, world exploring, plot device.

We "eventually did anyways" through a method that we didn't know at the time, that nobody else knew at the time, and required someone else to make preparations that had not been made at that time.

Additionally it was not something we could do at will. Again, we had to be summoned. The Exarch explains this to us. We did not travel there of our own free will.

And how do we use that, and what is on the other end?

The Crystal Tower didn't appear in Norvrandt until after the Flood – therefore after Minfilia was there, therefore later than the point at which you propose we use the device to warp to the tower.

Even aside of the fact that the device didn't seem to do anything until the Exarch locked onto it as a beacon, it would have taken us somewhere other than the First: either to the dark future or to the current-day Source version of the Ocular or it just might not work at all.

Though the presence of the device down in the trench has always been a bit of a question mark anyway because, assuming it was the thing that Nero's radar picked up and there isn't something else down there, it doesn't line up with the rest of the timeline. It had to be put there by the Future Ironworks if not by the Exarch himself, and if he just opened the portal to the Source and tossed it through, then it shouldn't be there until later.

(My slightly wild theory is that there was some kind of separate unmanned craft sent back separately to drop the beacon – along with a curious message in a bottle that we found on the beach one Rising...)

We did not have a way to do so.

We still do not have a known way to do so outside of the specific aetherial pathways created by our summoning and then linking into the First's aethernet.

In fact, narratively (as opposed to what we can do for gameplay convenience) it seems like we don't really travel back and forth anyway, and when we do we use the Ironworks device and the mirror portal in the Ocular. We return to the Source through the mirror at the end of 5.0, and I think 5.3 as well. And IIRC it's specifically said that the Crystal Tower becomes known as the way that the Warrior of Light comes back and forth to visit.

It's also important to note that "getting into the rift" and "getting through the rift to another world" seem to be two separate things with different degrees of difficulty.

Riastrad are we playing the same game? As soon as you end up on the first you land out in Lakeland and the guy who looks like one of the triplets greets you with the whole "You don't see many people out here are this time of night" you look askance a d have two options one saying something along the lines of how is it night or its as bright as day. He laughs talking about it being a joke from 100 years ago and his grandfather would say to the barman at closing time "and pray when has there been a dark night not for a bloody hundred years." He sees our confusion the chocobo comes over to us at a point he offers us a drug from his wine bottle then tells us to go to the chrystarium. Once we get to the outside we are confronted by Lyna who asks us where we are from we have three choices stay silent our starting city or the source.

She doesn't believe us the pulls out her weapoms we are faked out by her attacking sin eater and a ring drops kts the alt version of the three brothers ring because flash back and we saw it on his hand.... the exarch comes running over takes us takes us to the Gare apolgizes for us not being in the crystarium because his magicks were off , takes us inside and then PROCEEDS TO TAKE US TO THE AETHERYTE. The only times we end up back in the Crystal Tower is after the initial summons.
