Ultimately my point was that the US is the glass house atm not Germany, because Germany is beyond that phase and have learned and improved and it's not something happening today.
As opposed to other bad things happening and being done today which is in the end of the day more important.
If you don't learn from your mistakes and improve then what does it even matter, I see it as a virtue to learn and grow from your mistakes.

I think that if someone criticizes the US and your reaction is to bring up Germany during that time period then I think it honestly just speaks to his point.
Like again maybe consider why you have to jump to either third world countries as examples or the past.

At this point you're recommending that victims don't fight back. And that they should never fight back.

I can't even wrap my head around thinking it's okay to let abusers go about their business.

I would say it has more to do with I am the type of person that just takes the path of least resistance, and I have ran into to far too many people that try to push victims to relive their past experiences for the overall greater good of getting their abuser to take accountability when in reality it is not always the case yet they are pushed and pushed into standing up masking it by using the word encouragement or they are brave does not make it any better. If people want to stand up great, if others do not well that is life the abuser will go about their business. I am advocating for people to do what they feel is absolutely best for them in terms of their own self interest, and unfortunately for many reporting abuse often does not work out favorably or the reward is just got worth going through the hassle of having to relive the events over and over again.

That said verbal comments are extremely easy to let go and not let it get under your skin, as people we make the choice to let a comment hurt us. Though maybe it is just easier for me cause I generally do not think highly of people so their words have very little impact on me personally. Do not get me wrong their have been moments when someone has said something to me and it got me thinking and made me feel some type of way but then I ask myself why do I care and often I cannot come up with a good reason outside well it hurt my feelings. So at that point I just laugh it off and call it a day no need to let someone’s comment live rent free in my brain cause it hurt my feelings. No understanding to be gained when it comes why people say certain things thus no point dwelling or letting it impact my mood.

It is not that hard to let words get to you, just a matter of letting go.

It's typical NA culture. Insults are legal and free speech stays over everything else.

Funny thing is, in Japan insults are not legal. In germany you can get up to one year or a fine for it.

But yeah, NA loves to punish the wrong people and promotes guns and insults and uncivilized/unsocial behavior in general. It's sad, really sad.

Well, I've seen your comments in other threads so I know you're singling the US out here. But if you care to look at a map, we're not the entirety of the NA. There's also Canada, Mexico, Central America, and various islands. Kind of ironic here because we're usually the ones who get the "There's more to NA than the US!" if we bring up something about the US.

You're also working under a misapprehension. The First Amendment in the US doesn't give us the right to say anything we want without repercussions between private entities. It means we can bring our grievances with the government to light without the government having the ability to suppress or punish us for it. This allows us to raise a hue and cry against the policies we disagree with or that harm us. We still have plenty of laws on the books about things like slander, libel, and illegal behavior.

Fair point, when i speak about NA i mean more the NA online culture. Like NA servers. Which ofc bind together more countries than just the US. But when it comes to gaming etc. the majority of these players obviously are from the US and thus basically are setting the stage for the rest. Humans adapt to the enviroment they live in, often that is not always. So if you have to live in a toxic enviroment you yourself are at risk to become that, toxic. Which you can observe on NA servers. If you see people prepulling, which is seen as toxic on JP servers, you yourself think especially as a new player that his is acceptable behaviour and thus you adapt this culture of toxicity so you aren't singled out by acting differently. Ofc there are many players that are swimming against the stream but you can't deny that there are huge differences between the datacenters based on player culture.

Also i never said that you can say what you want in the US. Ofc like everywhere else there are some exceptions. But compared to other cultures and if we go after the mentality of US citizens, there are huge differences. We come from different cultures but have as i said to meet on common ground which rules are the house rules of SE.

People in this thread act like they can go wild like they do at home and trash every place with their toxic behaviour just cause it's common culture where they are from. And that hasn't at all to do with only the law but also the mindset. Why do you think there is stuff like road rage in the US? People throwing tantrums in airplanes etc.? Why are there so many crimes? So much violence? So much hate and toxicity? Why is the crime rate and in general the incidents of civil unrest in other countries so much lower than in the US?

The US is a toxic place, you can't deny that. The culture of "Me first" carries over to how they behave online and thus we have people being toxic in dungeons in a overwhelming number on NA. People prepulling everything cause why should they wait. People trashing the shout chats with shitposts. People also not greeting that often in dungeons. Mentors being a living meme. Look at these forums if you need more evidence.

Which is all not that bad, different culture as i said. But on what ground we have to come together is what the topic and my original post was about. The rules. The fact that you can't just trash on other players and insult them as you want cause it's all free speech in your country. Here the house rules of SE count not what you did grow up with.
