Point remains if someone refers to your character as an evil creature and that annoys you to the point where you need to voice concern when one could have easily just ignore the annoyance. Then do not get shocked people call you soft or uptight. Cause generally such comments are easily seen as jokes and nothing more.

If having personal boundaries makes me 'soft' or 'uptight' then I'll happily be viewed as such.

I've dealt with being called 'soft' and 'uptight' in the military because I didn't tolerate jokes made at my expense as a black woman.

May I ask why? The reality is that context matters if I got upset everytime someone made a joke at the expense of my personality and picked a attribute of mine to mock I would have a head full of grey hair.

Sometimes a joke is just a joke and often people read too much into it.

Nah the fault is not on you that they made the jokes but yeah I will say the fault is on you for getting offended. I come from a military family I get how messed up officers can be especially when it comes to pranks and jokes I have heard enough tales.

It's my fault for getting offended by racially derogatory remarks made toward my race as well as my gender by a bunch of older men who are all my superiors.

From anecdotal stories yeah to a degree. It seems they went harder on those that showed they were visibly upset. Especially if they were your CO, in the end you cannot control the actions of others but you can control how you let said actions impact you on a personal level.

Not saying what they did was right but given the boomer mindset that in the military not much else you really could have done expect show it bothered ya or just ignored it.

Just saying this from the stories I have heard at the dinner table and yeah military pranks and jokes are rough.

It’s a tired joke that’s a little bit irritating since it’s typically made at our expense. I’m not offended. I’m just annoyed at the same joke being lobbed at me for the 100th time.
