Who is your least favorite major character and why?

I still don't understand the necessity of Yda is actually Lyse--and the fact that all Scions knew but they are just knowingly playing the game--subplot in the game, like it is just absolutely unnecessary, silly, and incredibly forced.

That being said, I don't really dislike Lyse or anything. In fact, the one character that I kind of dislike is Alphinaud--he's just really boring, IMO.

For this Yda-Lyse thing to have impact for me it would only work if A) we met both Yda and Lyse with Lyse as a minor character trying to help but nobody takes seriously. B) Yda was severely injured but miraculously recovered only to learn later that in fact Yda died, and C) Lyse taking up the mantle in order to try to make a difference and actually become accepted as a valued asset. Or alternatively decide that her talents are better used elsewhere.

On topic, I don’t really hate any characters, but there are a lot of underutilized or…badly played characters I feel.

The Yda-Lyse thing reminds me, one sibling trying to replace the other keeps popping up in Japanese media (Nael in the JP script is his sister impersonating him, too, iirc?) and it's such a weird trope to me

I am not a big fan of Alisaie I can't take to her at all and think she is way overused. Fordola is nothing special but I guess she is not a major character.

She's not insignificant, especially within the scope of SB, and who knows what her popping up again in the last couple of patches means for the future?

I am hoping her character is killed off there are way too many better characters who have gone and still some bad remain.

This thread is kinda proof NA and EU prefers deep/sympathetic villains.
Kinda a shame really. I love zenos because he's simple and knows what he wants. He's just that simple baddie of old.
I don't mind villains with some kinda deep motivation like emet but it gets tiresome and its nice to have someone like zeno's who's just pure evil for the sake of it and we have to defeat.

It's not that I particularly hate Zenos, I just dislike the ridiculous plot armor he has. People can hate Y'shtola all they want, but we actually killed Zenos the man, then Zenos the primal, then Zenos the possessed.

I don't really care anymore for him, but for him to work at this point there needs to be major plot/lore dumps to explain him. Like is he becoming a Neo-Ascian with many "shards" collected like the WoL? What about his soul is so different from others who have done similar things (like Papalymo or Ysayle)?

Additionally, his motivation (as far as we know) is to stave off boredom. I mean..sure.. but.. ehhh. I would have preferred if he was just a serial killer/psycho who enjoyed killing and actually had plans/machinations/designs towards killing us... something like a Bond villain. He's just bored and sitting around. Real-World, theoretically with the tech available we could just nuke him from orbit because he's not actually doing anything towards his goal- it's all Fandaniel.

I guess that's the problem- I just don't feel any threat from him like I did with..say.. Nidhogg.

For a character to be 'pure evil' they need to actually accomplish something of note that is genuinely shocking and doesn't just indirectly benefit the protagonists.

Characters such as Kefka have very few if any redeeming qualities and succeeded at causing widespread destruction that wasn't, conveniently, limited to enemy territory.

Joffrey and Ramsay in Game of Thrones were entertaining for me to watch because, although they had little to no redeeming qualities...they actually accomplished things and were a genuine threat to other characters.

I also don't think he brings anything to the table that couldn't be accomplished by using Varis, Elidibus or Emet-Selch in his place.

This is why I kind of enjoy Fandaniel more at the moment, as crazy as he is (or seems to be) there's actually a bit of character and charisma there.

Hopefully it changes a bit in Endwalker but Zenos' whole thing right now is sitting around being a bored, snoozy boy and every now and then slow-walking with his hip pads on and it's just not fun to watch.

The problem i have with him is he has shown 0 story significance so far. He’s outlived two of the major players in this entire story arc from 2.0, yet he’s shown little relevance to said story arc. His whole “goal” to fight us was already done in SB. They’re just repeating the same thing again now as the ending to this arc? Pretty bad if you ask me. Obviously there’s going to be some twist regarding him but it’s not going to make me think any more of him. He’s boring, and it’s going to have taken 3 expansions to try to make a majority like him. That just isn’t good lol
