Becoming misanthropist hermit has made me find the beauty of FATEs (and Levequests) as leveling tools between 1-50.
Maybe not the most effective way, but you do not have to mess with anyone but yourself and that is great!
So, maybe try becoming hermit? You can party with your Chocobo and Minion and maybe Carbuncle
