Look at BDO. Have fun playing that game without pets, weights and costumes that give massive benefits.

I’m just not really worried about it. They have showed time and again that they care about player QoL, and have thus far upheld their respect towards the playerbase. They aren’t my friends, but they’re not my enemy either. I enjoy playing the game and I’m not bothered by shiny extras that I can take or leave. And the fervor will die down like it always does every time they add something new, because people will realize nothing bad happened.

The only paid service that has impacted my gameplay in the slightest is retainers. Two is doable but it’s a struggle and becomes more and more unpleasant every expansion. That’s pretty much the only cash shop service I’m pissy about. Okay that and Hrothgar fantasias should be free.

Twintania and sleipnir mounts aren't obtainable in game. Those are from 7ish years ago.

True, but it's still not very cool to see the same move repeat. I'd love to get twintania after a raid, same for sleipnir. That will probably never happen or i'll just get a reskin. It's not the same thing imo.
I'd rather see a reskin in mog station and the true one in game.

One cash shop mount (or even any that followed) were not and are still not what caused problems with WoW. The problems go much deeper than that. Now, offering "free" mounts for locking in a 6 month subscription is an issue, but that's more of a symptom of the game's many issues. They add them to the shop anyway if people don't want to do that.

Well if you like the game you'll just get the mount. It's not like you get only 1 mount for 60$. Meanwile the cruise chaser is worth 2-3 months of playtime. Isn't that a bit mutch?

Most of the MMORPGs I've played is the same history:

Start to play > the game starts to gaining popularity > the company release a superfluous item on market for the game, nobody cares > more items added, and 1-2 person start to notice, but the majority say "they just need more money, these items are superfluous..." > more and more items added on market, and the game start to decay > everyone blame the market to have the best items for the game now.

Well luckily FFXIV has always had bad microtransactions from day one, so it won't follow that pattern.

You have to pay an additional subscription fee for more retainers, so SE has always been incentivized to not increase our inventory size and constantly flood us with coins and totems and shafts and fishing bait and crafting mats and non-storable glamours, because they get more money if you run out of space. Most other MMOs I've played just sell you more inventory space for a one-time fee, but in FFXIV you can double the cost of your monthly subscription with retainers.

Getting upset over an optional mount of an ugly boss from six years ago seems silly and trivial by comparison. This is not a slippery slope, we've always been rolling around in the slimy pool at the bottom of the slope since forever.

So would I. I don't own any cash shop mounts. I have the wedding choco and twin, but those aren't technically "Mogstation mounts"


But I'm not going to throw a fit about it here.


I use mainly 2 mounts, the trashcan from the fate boss in 5.0, and my legacy Chocobo.

And, again, as soon as the shop actually becomes predatory and p2w, I'm gone. The devs understand this it seems, as the shop has been largely unchanged for years now.

They are being DDoSd, and they literally can't buy new servers at the moment.

The problems of the servers are not something of "now."
They arent recent.

Most limitations of this game are due to server side thingies. Server side issues been here from day one and have not stopped since. Rendering your cash shop defense completely invalid - There is no direct relationship between cash shop sells/profits and the quality of the service provided.

Multi seaters are a premium, you are either going to work harder for them or pay.

If you don't want to pay for anything extra they made content for that too, a free coca cola bear mount.

Or you can just log in during September to get the Regalia.

I don't mind there being mounts on the cash shop, but when it comes at the end of an expansion where we didn't get usual things like a new MGP mount or a Wolf Mark Mount (which would have been perfect for this), it comes off as kind of gross.
