Sure but I'm certain there is other mounts on the store that you can do the same argument for. I would much rather seen it as a grind achivement or something but I also not going to make a fuss about it being added to the store, I honestly don't really care.

Also if you need to bring up WoW, it's not a good look, because WoW isn't great either in that department, at all. WoW and XIV are probably the worst I've heard of, actually.

Sometimes I wonder if bootlickers do play other "ongoing" games and realize just how expensive FFXIV is to defend things like this.

Most games, even MMOs, don't expect the players to buy the game, buy the expacs, pay a sub, AND on top of that add things like retainers, the companion app, and the cash shop. WoW would be an exception and how expensive it is and lack of pressure from my friends is why I've personally adamantly refused to play it.
Bringing WoW up doesn't in any way make FFXIV an inexpensive game to play. That was my point, compared to other ongoing games, XIV is so fucking expensive.

What other sub based MMORPG out there can you compare to then? You can't compare a different game that operates on F2P with a cash shop cause they not comparable. WoW is the only game to my knowledge that we can compare ourselves to in terms of a cosmetic store. ESO is a B2P with a cash shop, BDO is a F2P with a cash shop.

I give you a point that stuff should be in game to obtain it but at same time, looking at statistics not many mounts ends up on the store compared to the game. It just happened to be a mount YOU wanted now.

I hate to play the "It's just cosmetic" card but it kinda is, if you really want it - swipe or gather enough support (constructive) and urge SE to put a reskinned version in-game.

From the games I've recently played: Rainbow 6 Siege, League of Legends, idolm@ster gacha games, ESO, and from in the past ongoing games I could bring up the likes of TF2 or MHW.
How many of them requires as much money to play and earn things as XIV does?

Usually it's one or a mix of B2P, mandatory sub, optional sub, or cash shop, not all 3 at the same time.

But we're talking about FFXIV, no? A MMORPG with a sub fee. None of the game you mentions is a sub based B2P game with a cosmetic store.
Comparing a mount with a weapon skin isn't a fair comparison.

I stated that nearly every other ongoing game is nowhere near as expensive as XIV, but somehow when I'm the one who brought that up, and I'm asked to provide examples, and when I do I get hit with the "uhm that doesn't have the same monetization system as XIV so it's not comparable when that's part of the point I'm making. So whatever.

That's be like me complaining Tesla cars is so much expensive than a scooter. They're both vehicles but not comparable. You comparing this game cosmetic store to Rainbow Six where you probably can buy a weapon skin for a few bucks isn't in the same ballpark. That's the point I was making. If you going to compare FFXIV store then compare to its competitors (which is Wow). So whatever.

Im more upset past event items get removed and put into the store instead. I wanted to get the summer event rewards but they are all in the cashshop now and all prior quests are removed and replaced by new ones. It wouldve been fun to replay old content I never got to experience so Im a bit sad about that. We only got a bear this year that Ill never ride. But the mogs wouldve been fantastic to match with my outfits.

I understand that but they also say the event is for a limited time only. As much I'd love to get Garo pvp gear on this account ( that wasn't active when that event was going on) I respect exclusivity.

We're paying the base game + expacs + a sub and we'd rather earn it through gameplay than spend even more money to get something.
Earning collectables through gameplay in the game you're paying for, what a strange concept.
That excuse is why many games end up being P2W. Many people want the gear and now they can get it easily, no grind needed, what's the problem?

The whole point by the OP of this thread was that yes, WoW is WAY worse, but WoW is a much older game, and there was a time when WoW's cash shop was smaller and more innocent like FFXIV's is now, but since so many people bought the crap in WoW's cash shop Blizzard eventually realized they can make more money by milking cash shop whales than by making a quality game with content and rewards that incentivizes people to actually play.
This weekend with the amazing Cruise Chaser going up on the cash shop while the in-game event got a lame low-effort recolor mount (polar bear) probably gave dejavu to all the WoW players because that's been the Blizzard approach for a while now.

Paying base game you get tons of content that comes with it. You get your money worth.

Expacs the same. You are buying the content. Not future content with it. You get a ton of content when you buy expansion.


Your sub is very cheap compare to most services, and the cost of making content for games is going up, while the sub cost staying the same.

The cash shop is helping us keep our sub price lower. It is a good thing, not a bad.

Though seeing the OP resort to mild gaslighting and belittling over cosmetic shop comparisons and what should, shouldn't be allowed in it and who can and can't have access to it cause of <reasons> does seem to try to make this thread a tad bit spicy. I honestly wonder if the OP actually knows what a predatory P2W cash shop looks like, for just a mild example, they could visit Perfect World or even Funcom and see their offers in their cash shop and compare it to the Mogstation Cash Shop, or even the Blizz/WoW Store.

You are refusing to let it go anywhere detailing your opinion as absolute and fact giving loose evidence based on your own personal experiences and insight and telling others that their opinions and experiences don't matter and wrong cause they are different from yours.

Simply put, it is okay to be disappointed in something that you feel should be in game and not in the shop and express it. It is fine to have detailed and critical scrutiny and criticism on it weighing both the pros and cons of both without trying to limit others from their own view and side. Belittling, labeling and generalizing cause you personally dislike it make you sadly look foolish, and will be treated as such. Not trying to be mean, but that is the direction you been going for 8 pages now. Feels like your trying to move the goalpost, after you cemented your stance; i.e: you don't mind the cash shop nor mind those who buy random things or boosts. Now you hate and find the cash shop predatory and all those who use it are "bootlickers" and "whales" within a span of few hours at most.
