just my take, but any seasonal event is just bonus material, its free and pretty much everyone can partake. it is not required for anything.
if they have an event, thats AWESOME.
if they dont have it, so?
if its not more extravagant than previous years... so?
I id not start playing FFxiv for the seasonal events, they are nice. thats it, something different to do, even for a brief time.
I have a difficult time understanding the constant complaints for something that the developers do not have to add in at all.

And if that stuff isn't equal or better than the stuff before then it's bad.
Things need to progress upwards, not down.

That's beyond childish.
"You have achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away"
Being a bikini catgirl is difficult path to walk. Do you know how many weirdos we have to fend off!? ._.
But yeah, plenty of reasons why events this year may have been slightly less exciting than in the past. With that said, I'm always down for a free mount!

Try being a Thighlander in a bikini. You'd be shocked. I absolutely refuse to use the glams.

Totally!
Everything should in fact be free for everyone while we are at it, because maintaining this large game is sustainable only with subs.
Totally ignoring the costs for everything going on in the background~

All events in FFXIV are very fast and you need to play 10 minutes to get the rewards.
For the polar bear, the majority is crying because they will not get a new bikini to roleplay in Limsa. Not a big deal for me. I'm not a big fan of non adventure gears and flying things who don't have wings or something to able them to fly, so whatever, but it's a reward.
The unique thing that I agree is that they removed the jumping puzzle from the event. Come on square... I'm not a big fan of jumping puzzles, but I know that there is a lot of people who try to get to the top every year.
Priorities lie elsewhere. To say that this year’s Moonfire is a disappointment is an understatement. Even compared to last year, at the height of covid restraints, they still managed something marginally more interesting than this. Last year we had a fate with unique actions and in exchange we got a full outfit and an emote. This year we just get a basic battle fate and a mount that’s a reskin of the Starlight bear mount. You go there, you play for 20 mins, and you leave and never come back.
If they insist on copy-pasting events, why couldn’t they copy-paste the 2019 installment that people enjoyed and were coming back to play? Even that was itself a copy-paste of 2018 with a few more features. I just don’t get it. You’d think since we’re in a MASSIVE dry spell before 6.0 they’d want to keep people playing somehow, and yet they refuse to give us events with any replayability! Through last Moonfire to last LLD, I was hoping these trimmings/cullings were only going to happen then, because of the ripple effects of covid. But now that they’ve all had a year to adapt, it seems they still want to give us the same low quality events. Quite depressing, really.
Eh, it was okay. I actually hate the platforming puzzles, so I'm okay with a fate. Also the polar bear is adorable!
