FFXIV already has great guide websites. We don't need IcyVeins.
What builds? What's the point of Icy Veins with no talents to choose from? For those interested, Icy Veins, a site dedicated to covering WoW and mostly Blizzard games, is now hiring writers for their new section dedicated to FFXIV.
Icy Veins is mostly for raiders and min/maxers but it's a good place to go for class builds, gearing and rotations. I know a lot of folks here have been wishing for a similar FFXIV site for years, and now they may finally have one with this.
It's worth mentioning, however, that most players interested in builds and rotations go to The Balance Discord server, but having a website dedicated to these things will likely be more accessible and convenient. And a huge help.
I think IcyVeins is predicting that it's time covering WoW is drawing to a close and now it's looking to expand by making guides for other games/MMOs.
isn't this exactly what the balance is for? balance has been around for a looong time.
The thing about that is, is that multiple race/clan combos hit the highest INT values. There are:interesting but I think your forgetting that racial stats are still a thing in XIV but in a minor degree. so these build (if they'll be true min/max builds) will most likely also include BiS race for jobs as well. so it'll be interesting to see the response they get from their first class build article.
inb4 lala is revealed to be BiS for Black Mage.
Midlander Hyur
Duskwight Elezen
Viera Veena
Lalafells of both clan only have second highest INT.
For those curious on other stats:
Highest MND
Miqote Keeper of the Moon
Lalafell Dunesfolk
Au Ra Raen
Hrothgar Both Clans
Highest STR
Hyur Highlanders
Au Ra Xaela
Hrothgar Both Clans
Highest DEX
Elezen Wildwood
Lalafell Plainsfolk
Miqote Seeker of the Sun
Viera Rava
Highest VIT
Roegadyn Both Clans
Hrothgar Both Clans
In my opinion, if you want to racial min-max for one job... that's pointless because what's optimal for you as an individual is to flex. The best races for flexible are those with most of their attributes high(starting with 4/5 stats in the 20s). These include:
Hyur Highlander
Roegadyn Hellsguard
Elezen Duskwight
Viera Rava
Au Ra Xaela
Of course, the difference between races is almost non-existent in the endgame. Critical Hit and Direct Hit variance is a far larger factor in DPS disparity.

When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
There's not really much to write about in FFXIV.
Extreme and Savage guides are always useful, but everything else is pretty straightforward.
I mean all the more power to them, but there really aren’t builds in this game like there are in many other MMOs, and there isn’t really a lot of variation in rotations, and, well, there really isn’t a variety of gear to keep like you might in other MMOs, so half of the stuff they offer is not really useful in FFXIV.
As pointed out, there really isn’t min/maxing other than “get the best in slot gear from the newest savage”. Even racial choice is meaningless for this. The widest difference in races is like 6 stat points. (17 to 23). The current endgame weapon for monk, just the weapon alone, gives over 700 strength. The difference between iLVL 520 and 530s is like 100 strength, again just in the weapon.
I mean, I guess I could see their use in having detailed strats for certain bosses? I’m just not really sure what they offer is necessary in this game. Something like guildwars 2 or Diablo 3 or path of exile, heck yeah! FFXIV is extremely linear in progression.

Basically for wow it's talent builds and bis gear guides. At least that's what I use it for. My actual game guide comes from dreamgrove.gg and questionably epic as a restoration druid.
Icy veins guides aren't always correct.
