All 3 healers have 4 button options. It's more about what content you expose your brother to. FC 4 and 8 man groups running Leveling and Main Scenario roulette every day will get his Healer to 80 quicker than you think.

Just because it's the only level 1 healer, Conjurer Whm is the ideal choice. Put a Rdm in the group have them focus the tank and avoid telegraphs. For 8 man, have a healer with experience.

If you are always playing together playing scholar should be fine with the added benefit of the fairy.

Though eventually he might get access to a lot of abilities he doesn't have to use all of them.

If one of you is playing tank in your group with him you can play paladin with him, later on you get clemency as a paladin that can help your brother in sticky situations with heals. They also have other support abilities to make his experience smoother.

You can bind dps macros for his dot and casted nuke like suggested for white mage so he can target the tank mostly, then bind adloquium and lustrate for single target healing. For aoe succor. You can even leave out lustrate for 4 binds.

Of course summoning the fairy is an extra bind, but once it's summoned it will stay out unless he dies.

With the above he might have to spam the heals more and not dps as much, but if you are doing mostly normal content and you pull dungeons at his pace you will be ok. It might be a bit slower but it would be doable.

If you or your other brother has a healer one of you can heal with him in content with 2 healers.

Its perfectly fine for him to play with limited binds if he gets to enjoy the game!

White Mage in places like Dusk Vigil during levelling roulette can be truly awful without emergency buttons, no holy, no thin air, no... nothing, really... but only if you're in a roulette with wall-to-wall tank-sprouts who probably think that it's wise to save CD's for bosses while they double pull AoE dragons and Ice Crystal packs into an inevitable CureII spamming blitzkrieg of desperation.

Pains me to say it, but if you want a healer fit for what the OP describes, then it seems to me that organizing the "Nightmare" WHM is the best bet -- a setup that makes it easy to plop Regen on people, give them easy access to Medica II, Cure II, and then whatever damage buttons you can get them to add to the four-button setup. Unless people flub mechanics, there's very few dungeons that regenerative spells won't prepare you for by themselves. Alas, it means you'll be stuck with the token regen-pre-pull overheal med-II spammer who does very little damage, but it can get the job done. Eeventually. Kinda.

Are they a button masher or do they hit a button and wait to see what happens? For people who like mashing buttons I wouldnt recommend using a wait command becuase it will wait a second from each time they press the key to try to use Raise. If you remove the wait command it will start the raise as soon as its available the next time they press the key. It all just depends on how they interact with the macro. Benediction also has a delay so they might double tap and use Tetragrammaton after Benediction. If you place Afflatus Solace first, then Tetragrammaton, then Benediction they will inadvertently use the skills in a more a beneficial way by allowing them to weave the lower cooldown free skills first. I would also recommend using multiple lines of each spell. Two or three of each to help guarantee things happen in the desired order. So three Aflatus Solace, then three Tetras, and three Benediction etc. For Tanking definitely put Heart of Stone first and Camouflage second since the cooldown is so low they will be back before they make it thru the rest of the skills quite often. It will give them more usage and more effective mitigation as well.

I'd slot Medica II in above Medica, once you get Medica II it's straight up superior in most cases. Also wouldn't hurt to slot Asylum <t> and Assize in there too, perhaps with a 1 sec /wait after Dia. Another option is mouseover for single target healing and then Glare/Dia don't even need a macro and he can just keep the boss targeted the whole time.

Remember to repeat the important lines as many times as you can fit into the macro to reduce the chance of the macro failing. You can also use:

    /ac "Swiftcast"
    /wait 1
    /ac "Raise" <2>
    /ac "Raise" <3>
    /ac "Raise" <4>

...too, so that he doesn't even need to click the Raise target (add more lines if you're doing 8 man content). Good luck and hope he enjoys the game

Scholar has a huge healing advantage most scholars kinda forget about - EVERYTHING is instacast. When you are new and suck at mechanics, standing to hard cast EVERYTHING as a white mage is really hard and sucky. White Mages don't really get alot of instacast until 70-80, but even then they still hard cast far more spells than other healers.

The easy answer is White Mage.
It's the most straightforward and basic healing class without any extra gimmicks.
It performs extremely well in any content, from the easiest dungeons at the beginning of the game, to end-game savage content.
