It's not. I've even had parties wait for them. They even leave the area near the key room to run back to that one door and just wait. Not new players. Just lazy.I've been guilty of this after missing an elevator, taking it to find everyone gone, and then having to alt-tab out to google a guide to tell me where to go. I'm glad no one vote kicked me for that. I firmly believe that the number of players who maliciously AFK for a carry is grossly overexaggerated. Someone whose gearing strategy is to AFK through every single instance is going to take forever to accomplish whatever goal they have. I'm inclined to give players the benefit of the doubt.
Only time I wait by the door is when people couldn't be bothered to wait until everyone was on the elevator and leave me high and dry at the bottom, at that point I will go back to the door and wait there.

Got to this today on my Chaos Alt, had a person that was explaining things before we got to them as seeing first timer (even if it wasn't needed). It was nice to see for a change as I first did this with skippable cutscenes and no teleport to bosses. Back then I missed a lot of the boss fights along with one of the tanks who finally said "wait up" so we could actually fight Ultima Weapon.

That's so great to hear and I would love to be that person, but seeing as my main is ranged DPS I don't think anyone else would even bother waiting up.
I can't believe how many people have experienced nearly the exact same problems on here as I have in my two runs of Prae when the fixes would be so simple. Mark the ID card, set up gates, etc. I can see why you wouldn't want to drag it out for rouletters when the now-unskippable cutscenes are as lengthy as they are, but what's another minute or two on something people afk for the majority of anyway?
All things considered, I didn't miss much, and while I was infuriated both times I got left behind, I still got the gist of the story and could easily check a guide before my next run. Just seems like such a silly fault. And I really want to know how I got into that Magitek armor dammit!

I usually just wait to get ported into the Nero fight. Consider it my part in allowing the sprouts to "fully enjoy" the experience of pressing one button while running from one place to the next.
Actually, it took me all of three seconds to come up with a permanent fix for prae: make it solo-queue content, one time only. You don't even have to change any of the dialogue - the NPCs already only speak to/acknowledge your character. It would probably take Square a week of minimal effort to recode it for that kind of a clear. It is a strange balance.
They put in the roulette to get people do do the dungeons in order to help get new people through them.
However that also encourages running it quickly as possible for those doing it every day.
So either wait forever for a queue, or get unfortunately crapped on for not being perfect by DF people.
Sorry dude, it's a known issue, but one that's hard to figure out how to fix.
