Agree with that. My sole hope at this point is that Fandaniel's backstory adds some depth to keep me interested, because Zenos puts me to into a deep sleep, whether he is upbeat, or not, whether they tack on some backstory for him, or not.

Nah, probably not. I miss Emet Selch the man, not Emet Selch the look. He was the character this game needed - a foil to all the hopeless goody-twoshoeisms and unabashedly earnest Scions; a person who asked real, legitimate questions about Eorzea, whether we were on the right side of this conflict or not, and truly believed in his cause without being a hackneyed 'evil 'cause LOL I'M BORED' villain like Zenos - and they killed him off.

And before someone says "that would ruin his arc!" - his arc was too damned brief as it was. Emet was a thinking villain cut from the same general cloth as Gaius (although he - mercifully - didn't speak nearly as much). Those are the types of intellectual antagonists that this game needs... not Zenos and his pointless, omnicidal quest for chaos.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Honestly, if any character could return in a way that is plausible it's the guy with mastery over the underworld.I want them to bring him back. I agree, though - we need more antagonists that stick around, are intelligent and have deeper motives than Zenos.
Dunno it’s his iconic look so can’t decide either way tbh.

Only if it came with the hair.
How would you propose that the game's development be funded without those willing to purchase optional items?
Would you prefer to see the cost of a monthly subscription rise to compensate? Or perhaps pay more for each expansion pack? Maybe content patches themselves can be paid micro expansions instead?

No, they probably believe that development is done for free and workers feed on Sun energy and don't have bills to pay, and even if they do - of course all the prices are same as back in 2010 when the sub cost was established and was never raised since. How would you propose that the game's development be funded without those willing to purchase optional items?

I agree with this entirely, I'd love to have him back in any form; preferably in the flesh but even an encounter with his ghost in some way would be better than never seeing him again. He still owes us a long talk, after all, he promised!I want them to bring him back. And before someone says "that would ruin his arc!" - his arc was too damned brief as it was. While the second short story focusing on him does more or less confirm he died 'for real', it also shows that he has the power to hit pause on that, look back and even effect the living world from beyond his 'death', so it wouldn't be totally crazy for him to be able to claw his way back out as well.
There's also the matter of there being kind of a lot of Solus clones left behind on the Source, so it's not like he wouldn't have a vessel waiting if he *did* find a way back. It could be really fun(ny) if for a couple of levels of EW we kept running into different rumors like: 'he looks awfully like a young Emperor Solus' , 'maybe Solus had an affair late in life and kept it quiet that there was a kid', etc, about whoever is leading whatever's left untempered of Garlemald. When we finally run into him it's literally Mr. Theater-enthusiast Emet hamming it up pretending to be his own bastard son, and probably opening the conversation with 'The rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated'.

I'd prefer a company that doesn't rely on whales and FOMO to make money. How would you propose that the game's development be funded without those willing to purchase optional items?

Stop making excuses for corporations.
I already pay. Just because you're complacent doesn't mean I am. We already get nickel & dime'd enough already.
