The reason SE is waiting until 2.0 to add most of the things we want usually falls into one of these catagories:

1. The current server system can't support the changes needed to give the players what they want OR even if it can, the amount of time they'd have to spend re-writing the code etc is better spent in other ways. Esp. when the coding seems to be far easier on the new servers.

2. It's a player 'vanity' wish, that while a nice touch, does not change the gameplay in any way shape or form...but rather again, just requires more time and energy on the DEV side that is better spent elsewhere. Even though many of these changes are small, they add up quick.

3. The current small player base doesn't support the need for a greater change. And again, it's easier for SE to wait until the release of 2.0 to do it.

...or some combination of the 3.

In this case, clothing color is a complete vanity thing. Quite frankly, while important to you, its very low on the to-do list of SE. They gave us some color choices now, but that was mostly do to this: 1. New recipe changes. 2. To replace a dye/craft system that was a little cumbersome. 3. To get those of us still playing use to the idea, and to allow us to 'test it' (Our 'testing' informed SE we don't like stats tied to color for example so they changed that). But for the most part, every system of the game is 'bare bones' or ' hey, lets see what they think of this' until 2.0 comes out. It's not the answer you want, but it's why and what is happening until the 'magical' 2.0 arrives.

Also, don't expect to dye, change your job specific gears... pretty positive they will be undyeable, rare-ex gears.
