Sounds like you came from WoW. Crude names will just get you a forced name change most of the time in that game but it's less tolerated here. Yelling at people in a raid is less tolerated as well.

WoW is traditionally more lenient about these things.... Mostly because they booted a lot of their GMs but, eh, details.

I do agree that this punishment is kinda harsh on a first offense. Let's be honest new players don't know that the rules are so striktly enforced in FFXIV because other games have rules too but GMs there couldn't care less about that and let the offender get away with it. It does not excuse him but 20 days is a bit excessive.

With the new info that came out in another thread by the OP, the 20 days are clearly justified

it may take a bit since they are used to GM's doing little except maybe joining in on the harassment. not saying they do, but lets face it, wouldnt be a shock if they did either

WoW's GM problem isn't that the GMs are toxic or lazy it's that they don't exist.

A lot of the more community management type positions were let go a long time ago.

WoW didn't become more toxic as a result, really. I don't think the playerbase is crueler because of it...

But you sure do see a lot of people trying to be edgy in how they name their guilds and characters now. IDK how many characters named after Covid I saw last year... At least a lot.

well, main difference here is, there are GM's and they do enforce the rules.

sure, going from the wild west into a city might be a bit jarring, but doesnt mean you dont have to follow the rules
