I know I posted this in the other thread but legit the facial hair looks akin to this.
SE please put more effort into facial hair.
I think they put a decent amount of effort in the facial hair, the options just look odd. More so on the male viera face(s). In my opinion, they probably would have been better off without any facial hair at all, and other customization options put in their place.
That or stubble maybe.

Personally they look to flat seems like a rush job in my opinion. To each their own.I think they put a decent amount of effort in the facial hair, the options just look odd. Ironically, I think the facial hair would have looked better on lalafell. It'd be completely in-character.
To me, it's the styles that are actually bizarre. Not even just that they look glued on. They really don't fit the male viera aesthetic, in my opinion.

Lala's would suit the evil goatee so well, sneaky buggers that they are.

The beards remind me a lot of samurai aesthetic or the look of old asian officals as they are potrayed in wuxian or xianxia movies. Maybe SE was going with that in mind when they created the beards for male Viera.
Male Viera remind me in general of wuxia and xianxia series. For example:
Lots of androgynous looking men in both images.
Considering that SE is a japanese companie it does not really surprise me that FFXIV has lots of asian influence in their character aesthetic. Male Viera could easily fit into Animes.

Would Japanese even look to Chinese media as an influence for male viera? Male viera are young on top of that, I don't think they really fit a Japanese general, or samurai aesthetic either. I do agree male viera could easily fit into animes though. Speaking of this, I do wonder what the Japanese community's reception to the male viera facial hair is.The beards remind me a lot of samurai aesthetic or the look of old asian officals as they are potrayed in wuxian or xianxia movies. Considering the fact that potatoes are one of JP server's favourite races, that one of their biggest threads is about wanting more flowery glamour items and that 99% of male characters in anime dont have beards or a stubble even if they are like 25/30, I higly doubt that many of them care that much tbh.Would Japanese even look to Chinese media as an influence for male viera?
