I think the community is the typical gamer community.
With that being said, I feel kinda sad with how some people have acted in our own community about him trying the game. Even though just like his community. I know the loudest is not the most. So i don't judge them.
People freaked out over nothing. To be honest. The only ones that should be worried are the GMS who might have to work a little bit harder to keep the community in check.
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't think he'd have gotten through ARR quests without skipping. I did think he would try the raids. But once I've seen him narrating the initial boring-ass Lv10 cutscenes and making it entertaining I knew he's gonna get past the post-ARR with ease.
I really wish Vet players would stop telling newcomers ARR is boring and a slog. It does have some pacing issues but it’s not awful to play at all. All you’re doing is giving a false bad first impression before they have a chance to make their own minds up.
In comparison with all other expansions, it is. Not to mention, a big partion of new players have reportly quit during ARR slog.
About the only thing I mention regarding ARR is the final quest chain in which one has the arduous task of taking on the 75ish quests before HW. The overall time it takes to run through everything else is fast, especially if one isn't interested in the story. My own experience though, had the $11.00 story skip not been available, I would have un-subbed, it simply would have been a loss on my end financially and I would have moved on.
People need to know what they're getting themselves into when firing this game up. Whether it's the plethora of cut scenes or the fetch quests people have to endure while playing. From my perspective, people should absolutely know that and not be caught off guard, not much different than buying something from a store and finding out it wasn't what you thought it would be. Some are interested in combat, not watching a movie a huge chunk of the time.
I would still recommend this game to anyone, it does have a lot to offer.
For me as a WoW classic player the ARR content is not that sluggish. It is OK, not great but not so boring that i would stop playing it. And that many people stop playing the game before they reach max level this is normal. The reason why Blizzard rewamped the starting experience with Cataclysm was that 40% of players stopped playing before they reached level 10. Level 10 you had done in a couple of hours. And i don't know whether the new level experience in Cataclysm was better for the players or not.
Cheers
yup, I agree, while the amount of post MSQ was a bit much, I thought it was more engaging than early to late HW, which I found pretty boring, honestly
