Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

It's odd enough having Hrothgar when the beast tribes are talked about in such negative terms, but that seems to be handwaved by them being a race that has apparently always existed and always been regarded as "men" despite their appearance. You can't make the same excuse for Garleans, an existing race with an existing reputation.

Considering how the "beast tribe" moniker was created by Ul'dah and Garlemald to excuse their racism, I don't doubt for a second Hrothgar were also called that when they first bumped heads with Eorzea before learning the common tongue. It would depend on what year they'd want to have had the Hrothgar having first met Eorzeans. I could easily see that term being used a lot for them in the early days before it slowly phased out of use for Hrothgar.

I already have my male Viera designed and plan to permanently switch from Hrothgar in November (I always wanted to be male Viera but this was a good in-between).

HOWEVER, has there been any discussion that Hrothgar will be receiving new hairstyles in Endwalker? I know they said more hairstyles for female Viera and opening up other paid styles/modern aesthetics, but are Hrothgar still going to be getting nada?

I hope they get something, but if not, then there's going to be a hell of a lot of salt at Viera for being the developer's favorite.

While I adore bunny boy customization, I really hope they make their necks a little shorter/thinner.

If that's good enough, then players should have been satisfied cosplaying as a viera with the bunny chief crown. Since viera are also modified hyur/elezen with bunny ears.

Male viera have an entirely different body type, facial structure, animations and even overall personality from any other male races. Garleans are, from what we've seen of them, literally just male hyur or sometimes elezen with hyur ears. It's a massive difference.

Sadly that is what I do with my roe and lalafell. Meh until I just worked on a mod for personal use to hide ears since I was bored during covid. It is not the cleanest with certain hairstyles for helms but I rarely change hairstyle or use helms.

So to be fair I would be in favor of more costumes adding for cosplay sake if additional races are not possible.

At the very least the limitations would be justified to a degree if that was the case.

Oh? Can a custom garlean race not have an "entirely different body type, facial structure, animations and overall personality" from other races? As it stands female viera look to be just using a scaled version of the midlander body (Even the same hempen set), and male viera also just have a slightly modified midlander body - with hips (and bad posture). As I stated prior:

I would never suggest using a mod, nor am I requesting playable Garleans. They were simply an example, in relation to the addition of viera. Lore is seemingly used as a reason for the exclusion of things some players might not want added, however, when there is something some might want added, lore is seemingly no longer in the way of that addition.
