Perhaps you should stop consuming such hateful content then. I'm on JP DC and and now all of the sudden people are branding us as toxic? What?

I don't see how a sprout who isn't even doing the MSQ themselves could block someone who is from doing it to that extent, however I can definitely see high level players one shotting his quest mobs or people who made alts with mogstation mounts stand on his quest objectives.Almost all of the people blocking him were brand new sprouts. Just his own community that made a lot of trial accounts to crowd around him.
How can I be sure they were new? Their names would be quickly reported if they had been playing long and most of their names contained a play on his name.
It doesn't really reflect on the FF community at all.
Having a sprout doesn't mean much (I have it on several characters...) and the ordeal absolutely does reflect on the XIV community.
im baby

This whole ordeal:
All games have "good" and "bad" players in them.
WoW isn't free of faults but so aren't FFXIV.
People just gotta accept that there will always be those "bad" people in any game and just focus on playing the game the way oneself wants to.
it's this whole "we and them" attitude that brings this to daylight at this moment.
So what? Just keep playing like always and things will calm down.

I absolutely stand corrected and apologise...you are in fact correct. Mind you the fact the ending was gated behind a damned mythic was..idiotic. it was story content that didnt need to be tied behind a mythic level dungeon ( for my FF 14 brethren thats like tying MSQ behind a mandatory Savage fight ).Jaina Proudmoore's storyline that you followed after leveling an alliance character up through Kul Tiras was fantastic. Jaina's story. Specifically. That started with that beautiful warbringers cinematic and culminated in her calling the fleet home with that beautiful song.
Why they did I could never understand..oh of course, their metrics. Make content compulsory and they can point and say how popular it is.
.
I quit in BFA as I was..well..more or less disgusted at the potential they tossed off in favour of that idiotic faction war.
BTW does anyone remember anything about a humungous sword stuck in the earth in Silithus? Blizzard did.
its still there. Forgotten. Thrown away, like the Order Halls, the Broken Isles, the massive haul of character storylines and background they made in Legion. I sat there and my only thought was "We just had an epic expac with a TON of potential........and this...this...this PATHETIC GARBAGE is what they come up with?"
UGH.
NO.
Bye Blizzard.
Hello Eorzea.

Reality has proven that the FFXIV community isn't full of Zealots or evil people.
GCBTW is just a meme people use to put down the whole XIV community because of a group of people, who realistically are outliers. Every group has them.
What is realistically a handful of people compared to a whole playerbase does not represent the FFXIV community
Exactly the same thing happened with Star Wars The Old Republic. They had a really cool storyline going that had the Empire and Republic working together against the Eternal Empire. The so called fans whined so much for more of "muh empire vs republic" that they ended up cutting that story short without answering most of the mysteries they setup and went back to the same empire vs republic garbage we had already had 6 years of. Then to add insult to injury they brought back a Dr Evil level villain just to please them. I quit and never looked back.
Knights of the Fallen Empire
Knights of the Eternal Throne

Well those games are taken from already existing franchises where the whole premises is factional conflicts.Exactly the same thing happened with Star Wars The Old Republic. They had a really cool storyline going that had the Empire and Republic working together against the Eternal Empire. Taking that away would be like adding to FFXIV where the great companies break up and start fighting one another after the Garlean Empire is brought down, splitting the community in 3 factions.
Turning 180 degrees in a story with a set premises is a very risky thing and could end up with the playerbase who play the games because of the backstory to leave.
But this is the wonderful thing with all the choices of games out there on the market.
If one doesn't like faction war there are plenty of other choices to pick from and vice versa.
In the end it all boils down to personal preferences of what one is looking for.

Regardless of whether the people pestering him were new, old, fans, haters or whatever, they are not "the community".
They are a small fraction of the people playing FFXIV while everyone else gets on with playing as normal, and judging the community based on their actions is like judging a whole crowd because a few people decided to be disruptive.
The larger community has no power to prevent these few people from doing what they're doing.
