Let me put it in perspective. There were reports of a queue on Cactuar of 700? A thousand? When I played WoW Classic at launch I was in a 18,000 person, 7 hour queue.
Asmon has done one favor for us. He shown everyone EXACTLY what this community is.
whats even more impressive is the mental gymnastics you must go through to accuse the players on 16 other worlds in two other NA data centers, as well as the 7 other worlds in the Aether center of going out of their way to get to the same server he was on to harass or even just follow and get in the way. not only that, but go to the other games that he has played on and do the same thing prior to him even thinking of playing FFXIV. we must have a lot of psychics here.I like the mental gymnastics behind the conspiracy theory that WoW players who wanted him not to play FFXIV infiltrated the game 1 month ago when he said he would be joining, learned how to play the game, leveled up to 80 and cleared all Savage and Ultimates in order to be ready to grief him at the starting zone.
Contrary to, you know, the more probable option that FF players who dislike him because he likes a different game decided to bully him out of the game. There are no shortage of those people in here, as the other 92 pages thread is proof of.
It's a really sad scene to see. What could have been an important milestone in the history of FFXIV ended up being tarnished by people involved in a Team Jacob vs Team Edward kind of immature drama.
I am glad he seemed to have fun regardless and hope he continues playing. aside from that... I dont pay his sub, he can do as he wishes ^^
Um ... This is exactly what WoW has been like for 15 years.
I imagine he felt right at home.
I mean, this is flat out wrong. There is a story. There are cutscenes and plot and cinematics and NPC dialogue and everything FF14 has. The Jaina storyline from BFA is as good as Shadowbringers, IMO. And Legion before it was excellent.
Coincidentally, that Jaina thing was the last time I really enjoyed the story in that game lol
It's just that much of the rest of the story isn't all that well written and going in directions that a lot of people don't seem to be liking, though YMMV of course.
But there is a story and frankly there's been more story in game in WoW since WoD to now than there ever was pre MoP. (MoP was really where they started to tell a larger cohesive narrative, actually, but didn't really perfect it until Legion)
Most of the story is however locked behind doing the endgame grind, and I don't think that helps matters.
95% of the "community" doesn't play on Cactuar.
95% of the players on Cactuar did nothing.
So save the drama.
I played an Undead Warrior on Tich for 10 years.
I know exactly what the WoW community is.
FFXIV community is a billion times better.
There's no comparison.
