Following around Asmongold and spamming effects around him is all it takes to to embarrass the community? Man, doesn't take much does it?
He seems to be able to play the game just fine.
He even sounds excited to keep playing
I'm watching the stream and he keeps mentioning how troublesome it is trying to play with people harassing him. His chat is constantly complaining about it too, since you can't see the actual gameplay when he fights or runs around, only a mob of players with endgame mounts who troll his quest kills.
I'm bit disappointed in the FFXIV community; I thought we were better than this... There's no excuse for harassment, I don't care if you like the guy or not, just quit being bullies, it's embarrassing.I'm watching the stream and he keeps mentioning how troublesome it is trying to play with people harassing him. Sadly all it takes is a handful of morons to cause a lot of problems.
The fact that it isn't worse is actually indicative of how good the community is imo, I actually did expect it to be far worse than it is.
I was watching him stream during his first Sastasha run today and he said the other members of his party were being nice and helpful so that's good to hear.

The worst of it has passed. Initially a large group of people were getting on their biggest mounts to hide quests destinations, tagging mobs so he couldn't kill them, and other things. There's also a rumour being suggested on the r/ffxiv discord that a discord has been set up just to mess with him and there was chatter in zone chat on how people should impede his progress. It's pathetic behaviour.
What's especially sad about it is that outside of that he seems to have been enjoying the game thus far.The worst of it has passed. Like just stop ruining peoples good time people....
Ive been watching since after he created the character, so I saw the madness. I dont consider that "embarrassing the community" as dreadful as Im sure that beginning would be for anyone. But several hours in and he's been progressing at a very good pace. Some annoyances but were quickly squashed by the tools provided. The worst of it has passed. Probly the one challenge he cant help is being followed around the open world.
If that Discord thing is true, THAT right there is no good and shame on those people lol.
But I can say they have been largely unsuccessful.
He seems to be having fun despite the crowd following him around. But then again, he's probably used to that.
